Dunking in warm ups I don't get its just a intimidation thing I think. An in game dunk especially from the shorter kids is so rare that's why its talked about so much. I can recall a few Brent Bach in game dunks an ally oop or two that blew the roof off the gym.

 

Me I love the three ball...... But I'm not gonna say a shorter kid throwin it down won't get me up outta my seat eithier.

It's the ESPN age, Clizzy. Folks are enamored with dunks. I personally like the kids who can hit 2-5 three pointers a game over the dunks. 3>2.

 

I'm not against all dunks. I love a good power dunk over a defender. At the high school level that's LEGIT.

 

However, as we often see on here and hear people talk it's almost always a breakaway dunk. Not new. Not impressive.

Because, although we see them on tv highlights, a dunk in high school is a rare feat. I was blessed to grow up watching a school that had pretty good athletes threw the years but I remember watching games against teams that didn't have one kid in years that could dunk in a game.

At the end of the day a dunk is still worth 2pts. Are they exciting, sure. I get more hype out of a great pass than I do a dunk.

I was an awesome dunker at an earlier age............................when I lowered the basket to 8' :smug:

When dunks count more than 2 points I will become more enamored of them.

I like a good dunk, and I hate to brag..........but....... I was under 5'11" when graduated high school, and I could SLAM DUNK

Dunking is not on my bucket list.

I really love a good crossover and step back jumper more than a dunk.

Just as Clyde has a problem with dunks, saying they are now commonplace and often overrated, I think the crossover dribble is grossly overrated.

 

I have been to several games in the past few years where a crossover dribble in the backcourt some 60 feet from the basket got the loudest recognition from the crowd for the entire evening.

 

A crossover dribble does little or nothing for me. Sorry PP92....I am with you on most issues.
