Georgetown College, end of argument.

Add capacity to seating and parking and a great argument for Georgetown could be made.

....and less than an hour drive for me is even better. ;)

:eek::eek::eyeonyou::irked:

UK is getting turf next year. Play in Lexington

Say it aint SO

These are all great ideas. But I think the only way is to privatize it. Better chance of getting investment money. That way , investors can make money. Keep the KHSAA out of it. The weekly games in football, soccer, club sports, whatever would fill the schedule most of the year. You could put Tom Gamble in charge and the investors, or someone would make a killing!

Put Tom Gamble in charge and you'll be paying $200 for a state final game...

Parking is plenty and as far as seating goes, they have plenty of space in both endzones as well as both the home and visitors side. I think it's the perfect site.

They would have to add seats to the sides...nobody want's to watch their kid play for a title from the end zone.

G'Town seat around 5000 according to other post on the thread, which is 3000 or so less than an average title game attendance.

It's a good place, but it would need to be expanded IMO.

Crowd-fund it?

I believe EKU is updating their facility

Think it would make a great venue. The biggest issue with Richmond and Georgetown is hotels. To accommodate 12 Teams' Players, Coaches, Cheerleaders, Band in addition to KHSAA Officials, People Who Run the Event, and VIP's like sponsors you have to have a lot of close hotel rooms and "nicer" hotels. I am not sure either location has enough rooms to accommodate all for three days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

With that said, obviously Lexington isn't too far to either... but with UK basketball and football potentially interfering rooms there may be at premium as well.

People love hating on WKU but the venue really is perfect for the Finals and Bowling Green is just big enough of a city to properly accommodate the crowds. It's a shame K-State never took off as a program...Frankfort would be so ideal if K-State had a venue like WKU has.

Georgetown and Richmond are not very 'centralized' in my opinion. It would be super cool to have an independent complex around E'town with football/soccer/lacrosse stadium, other fields for softball and baseball. Like others have said it could be used to host HUGE regional and national events in all of those sports. If I could get access to around $15-20m I would build it myself! :)

How large would the stadium need to be? 10000-12000 seats?

The 3 or 4 NKY teams that always make it to the Finals wouldn't need to spend the night. :)

Georgetown College, end of argument.

Thank you. Someone on here has some sense like me. LOL, I have mentioned this venue before, along with EKU but people have said that not enough seating at Georgetown College ( What? ) and Roy Kidd is not centralize enough. Thanks Hellbird.

Too big is a weak argument. They play high school playoff/championship games at the ATT Stadium in Dallas. No way a HS game is filling even the lower bowl. Most college games don't.

It is about the experience of the player, being on the big stage. Certainly more fans the merrier, but being on the field playing a game in a big time football program's field is part of the achievement of making it to the championship game.

In my opinion this is why WKU is not the best option, it's simply not a big time feel.

Kentucky is not Texas, California, Florida, Ohio or Georgia. They eat, sleep, breed football in those states. Unless your Saint X vs Trinity here in KY, who attracts 24,000 plus at Papa Johns, a stadium which holds about 5-7 thousand per game is plenty, thus Georgetown College ( maybe ) or Roy Kidd.

So let me throw this out...without it being private...would KHSAA be able to pull it off without creating central venues for other sports as well? Every sport complains about non-central state games. Just not sure KHSAA would even think about it until they could provide the same support for all the sports. Now if it was privatized, that's a different story!

The problem you run into, then, is the fact that, as a location made specifically for the state finals, either Trinity or St X. has played in the state finals 30 times in the last 38 years....and often times they have both played in the state finals. Also, there is the issue of overlapping crowds. Sure, most of the games will only draw 7-8K spectators...but what happens when fans arrive early? What happens if fans want to watch more than one game? The stadium needs to be bigger. 15K seems appropriate.
