Guest T Rocks Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Just throwing this out there, what if the khsaa raised money so they could build a centralized stadium that could host most outdoor high school state events, with money raised going back to Kentucky high schools athletic
gchs_uk9 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Where in Elizabethtown or Lebanon would you put it?
mcpapa Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Does the KHSAA have the capability to raise, let's say, $5 million or more for such a project?
Jumper_Dad Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Does the KHSAA have the capability to raise' date=' let's say, $5 million or more for such a project?[/quote'] Could it be done for that much? If so, money could be raised in no time...add $1 to ticket prices for all sports that would use the facilities. Example every HS Football game and every Soccer match raises ticket prices and set that dollar aside for the project. Or...get Corporate Sponsor for the entire amount let them slap their name on everything for 20 years. A good design could host football soccer track softball tennis and baseball at one complex...would be great for middle school championships as well.
KentuckyJoe Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 UK is getting turf next year. Play in Lexington
BIG BLACK JACK Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 UK is getting turf next year. Play in Lexington No.
Guest T Rocks Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I'm sure they could get sponsors they have them now for state football games. It would be great to see the semi finals and finals in the same place
SportsGuy41017 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Does the KHSAA have the capability to raise' date=' let's say, $5 million or more for such a project?[/quote'] Yes! But would they spend that money, and most likely more to play a few games a year? No.
Sweeperboy Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 What would be building construction criteria? 1) Turf 2) Lights 3) 12k to 15k maximum capacity 4) No security 5) Corporate seating (boxes) etc. This is about the only way this thing gets built 6) Soccer lines so they can use it too for finals 7) Total stadium seating around the entire perimeter similar to to The Pit at Elder (no wind) 8) HS Hall of Fame (got to reach out to the community) 9) All tickets are $15 each and food is free along with water. (People got to quit trying to make a killing at the HS level) 10) Put together a committee other than the KHSAA to organize and build this thing (People with the skills) Again, get the community involved...
mcpapa Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Add ADA accessibility to the list. A quarter to a half mil.
mcpapa Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 And free food? Heck, a BGP get-together would likely swallow up any profit.

I agree with a committee other than the KHSAA, also agree with all your points especially the HS Hall of Fame on site or some how spread through out the complex. Maybe a small indoor stadium to accommodate the fall sports. Again with all proceeds going to the upkeep of the complex and redistribution to Kentucky HS sports
tcjkbt Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Do any other states have this kind of setup?
Guest T Rocks Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 looking right now but I'm not seeing anything
