Centralized Stadium for KHSAA state games

Featured Replies

Why not? It is centrally located, plenty of parking and lodging available. A renovation that will include box suites, turf, etc. What is the problem other than it won't be full?

Because Lexington is not centrally located.

Lexington is the center of the universe. Please keep up.

The problem you run into, then, is the fact that, as a location made specifically for the state finals, either Trinity or St X. has played in the state finals 30 times in the last 38 years....and often times they have both played in the state finals. Also, there is the issue of overlapping crowds. Sure, most of the games will only draw 7-8K spectators...but what happens when fans arrive early? What happens if fans want to watch more than one game? The stadium needs to be bigger. 15K seems appropriate.

I get what your saying about overlapping crowd. Perhaps more time in between games should clear out the previous game, thus let the next game and their crowd to file in the stadium. Or monitor tickets ie. If you purchase tickets for that 1 particular game, then you must leave before the start of the next. Or purchase a package to watch all classes.

I agree and Georgetown is still my choice as best site. There are p,entry of hotels in the area including in Lexington. The parking is perfect. The stadium is perfect and would fit everyone who attends.

Its also very close to the interstate which makes for easy access into and out of the area.

Overlapping crowds wouldn't be a

problem. Same as WKU, they won't let you in for your game until the crowd from the previous game has exited.

How much of a problem is it that Georgetown is not a state school?

Not sure it matters. A contract is all that is needed

That's true, but I would think KHSAA would rather use a state facility and there would be no tax dollars available for stadium improvements at a private school. BTW, I too believe G-Town would be a great location.
