Ok, now it's getting thick in here......

Not really. Alabama is the best team in the nation and it's not even really close. I can't wait to watch them destroy FSU.

I don't know who the heck is the best team this year but I agree that FSU deserves the number one rank in the polls.

Alabama is probably as good a team as there is right now in the country but to say it is not even close is laughable. They have won their last two games in OT to a team that just got shutout by Arkansas!! and by 5 at home. Again, I am NOT saying Bama is not very good - they may win it all - but to say it is not even close???? C'mon man....

IMO Alabama is the best team in the country.

But also, IMO, FSU should be ranked number 1. It hasn't been pretty, but they've taken care of business.

I wish we still had the BCS formula, I'd be curious to see how that would look.

This post basically summed up my thoughts. Even if you don't think FSU belongs, you said THREE helpless teams. That's ridiculous. Even in their one worthwhile non-con game they didn't show that kind of juice. They won't be playing these playoff games in Tuscaloosa.

Besides, if you're right, you'll never even see Bama/FSU because FSU will have lost before that time.

Will Bama have been disinterested if they don't win it all?

Marshall is 10-0. Ten wins.

Is Marshall in a power conference?

You probably said that last year when they played Auburn too.

This is a pointless discussion until folks want to admit that the SEC is overrated and that SEC bias plays a part in ranking these teams. Texas A&M shouldn't be ranked. LSU shouldn't be ranked. Georgia and Auburn are barely top 20 teams. Mississippi State is overrated. Mississippi is overrated. Bama is the best team in the SEC but they aren't nearly as strong as Wireman believes they are. I'd argue that Bama this year is worse than last year's Bama team. Everyone admits that the SEC East is doody and now SEC East teams are defeating the super strong SEC West teams. You can't have it both ways. Schedule strength is a myth when the SEC teams are continually overranked in the polls simply because they are SEC teams. None of those teams are playing better football or football at a different level than any other team I have seen play this season.

Nope. They'll just blame Lane Kiffin.

This sounds about right to me.

I'm still firmly convinced that Alabama was the best team in the nation last year. Obviously the best team doesn't always win. I think they might be the best team again this year but there are several teams who I also believe are in that close group. The playoffs could go to 8 this year and we would get some pretty good games.

I'm not convinced they were the best team last year or this year. I think they get a pass more than anyone else because of previous success.

I do agree that we would get some good games with 8 teams. I think 8 teams is the way to go. The fact that people can say that it would be wide open with 8 teams further proves my point that there aren't any dominant teams anywhere at all in college football.

True. I much more enjoy a year when a case can be made for this many teams. I'm hoping it results in more enjoyable bowl games to watch.

You can only truly believe that if you play the usual "Bama wasn't interested because it wasn't the championship" game that people seem to play when Alabama loses in a non-title bowl game. Oklahoma made it two losses to end the year for Alabama last season.
