I agree with the top four.

26 straight wins!

What is Doak Walker? You mean Doak Campbell?

My bad. Got confused. I need to make sure my Doaks are in a row before I post.

Come on. The fact they're defending national champs has no bearing. The fact they have a Heisman winner has no bearing.

Undefeated has to be taken into account but so does the competition level, right? Who is the win you hold up to say "here's why we should be #1?" What win overcomes their schedule?

I hold up the 10 wins they have. Why do I have to hold up one win when I can hold up 10? Who else has 10 wins? Better yet, what loss can I hold against them? Oh, that's right...they haven't lost.

You can't claim competition level with a team in a power conference. If the ACC is considered a power conference then FSU is the only undefeated team in the power conferences and they deserve to be number one. Is the SEC the best conference? Sure. I also think it isn't as good as everyone says and competitive games amongst SEC schools shouldn't be held in higher regard than competitive games in the Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12 or ACC.

I'm not saying I think FSU should be #1 - though as an undefeated team in a power conference that usually is accorded the top spot - but the bolded is the issue some have with these discussions. The SEC gets a lot of circular logic going by this point in the year. Why don't they play a strong non-conference schedule? Why, because they have to play in the SEC! Why does [insert team name] get ranked so highly? Because they beat [enter SEC team name] and they play in the SEC!

A stigma or perception gets applied to a conference, and there is very little that breaks that.

I don't think FSU can hide behind the "we're in a power conference" support when their conference is ehh. It's OK. Not strong. Not terrible. Just ehh.

You then can't use their record as compared to a Bama or a Miss State.

There simply isn't enough solid evidence to have them as a definite in the top 4. It doesn't matter that ND turns out to be weak. It doesn't matter that the conference is ehh. Unfortunate for them but their lack of destroying ehh teams PLUS no big wins makes it really difficult to reward them. It's not 2013. It's not THAT team we're debating.

Bama is overrated and so is Miss. State.

So is the SEC.

Why? Arkansas just got its first SEC win last night. Who did they beat? LSU. The same LSU that couldn't keep a kick off inbounds in order to defeat who? Alabama. The same Alabama team that almost lost to Arkansas. The same Arkansas who has the same SEC record as who? UK. The same UK team that defeated South Carolina using a 4th string RB over and over again in the Wildcat formation. The same South Carolina team that defeated Georgia. The same Georgia team who couldn't beat a Florida team that threw the ball 6 times for 3 completions in the whole game. The same Georgia team who defeated Auburn and held them to 7 points. The same Auburn who dominated an Arkansas team that has one SEC victory and has a winning combined scored of 31-20 against LSU and Alabama for a 1-1 record against those two SEC powerhouses this season.

Over. Rated. I can't wait until Ole Miss defeats Mississippi State. Then only one SEC team will make the playoffs. As it should be this year.

Unranked Missouri is almost in the SEC championship game. The SEC is sooooooo awesome.
