Why is Jackson Co. open? They lost but were extremely competitive in nearly every game.

That's been a really tough job for several years. Why has East Carter struggled so much, while West Carter has been reasonably competitive?

That's been a really tough job for several years. Why has East Carter struggled so much, while West Carter has been reasonably competitive?

Hard to say, East normally has some nice players, but has a hard time fielding a complete team. My observation is they seem to have fairly large Freshmen and Sophomore classes, but the number dwindle down by the time they are Juniors and Seniors.

 

West normally is competitive with low numbers, they may have a losing season, but they are in a lot of their games.

 

I like both Zach Moore and Kevin Brown both great men and very knowledgeable. At East I think many times the expectations are too high and the coach is blamed more then appropriate.

East has a lot of young talent. The switch to 4A will be tough next year.

The support of the football team at East is just upsetting. Everyone in the community expects to lose, and will complain about them losing all the time but most are fair weather fans. There are some dedicated parents and fans but most aren't. It takes more than 4 years to rebuild what Zack Moore was left with.

 

Also West usually has an easier schedule than East.

So many places across our state are constant uphill battles. Always have been, always will be.

 

Banging your head against a wall, scratching and clawing just to try and get close to .500, only to have a couple "good years", followed up by a couple inevitable bad years can get old really quick.

The switch to 4A could be a death blow to the program. May not win a district game for a while.

I firmly believe that the 2013-14 team (played on) could have beat Boyd, Greenup, and I don't know how Rowan was. We even beat Greenup. The freshmen and sophomores on this years team are talented for sure and I hope that will translate to success for the program.

Hearing from about as official as official can be that Dudley and Taylor is carrying over to next year. No more 'interim'.

Todd is still the HC, to my knowledge there is no coach in waiting. It wouldn't shock me to see him step away soon with his son playing at Murray.

Yeah its gonna be another big year as far as the numbers. Last year just seemed unusual in numbers bc of those big names/schools.

 

40 has been the average (actuallt 39.8) each of the previous 5 off seasons...I bet that number gets in reach or surpassed this year. There were 42 last year I believe.
