UK has not tackled very well at all the last two games...........and it's probably driving Stoop nuts. Also, it looked like he was somewhat bothered when the gimme 80-yard pick six was dropped. As to the comments about Neal Brown, Kentucky's receivers have trouble getting open and are not terribly sure-handed. UK needs a big time upgrade in that department. Bottom line: UK at present does not have enough SEC-caliber players to win consistently in the league.

The play calling was bad and that should be obvious to all. It had no rhythm and again too many 3 and outs.... It's true that execution was poor but play calling didn't do a very good job of creating opportunity's. We had one successful series running the ball then spent the rest of the game trying to recreate it.

I talked to my buddy who went to Mizzu. He said they felt extremely disrespected by UK and the media predicting UK to win at Mizzu. Mizzu destroyed Florida in the swamp, somehow all week people forgot about that.

 

I honestly couldn't see why so many were picking U.K. to win this one. On the road with an improving but in all honestly not a top, close to the top U.K. Team. I love the job that Stoops is doing, a lot of comments here are imo what I was saying after a couple of W's and especially after S.C. -- I was afraid / could tel then that all of a sudden that people wee going to start thinking that the Cats are far better than what is there.

Vastly improved from the lost hope of previous / before Stoops seasons but Still not close to a top level SEC Team. That "IF" it ever happens will take several years of good recruiting classes. U.K. barely has a good, certainly not great starting units.....HAVE NO Depth/ SEC top level teams right now have two, three deep at every position both O and D on the field. A tea like Bama has more than that.

I am very optimistic about U.K. Football now and for in the future with this Staff and the recruiting. I Am Not so blinded that I expect to seriously compete with the "big boys" of the SEC and nation right now.

Agree. Only thing I'd add is the inconsistency that comes with playing young players. They'll look great some games and only okay (or worse) other games. Folks need to be patient.

Exactly. This is part of the learning process. UK played a ton of Frosh, be them true or red shirted, and Soph's. That is one of the best pass rushes in the country. PT just saw what a very good D looks like. So far he has seen 2, both on the road. He and the O are learning all about margin of error. I think that that was part of the reason Brown has been so conservative. If anything is to be criticized it is that he seems to be protecting his young QB w his conservative game planning.

 

That said yesterday UK should of and had to max protect. UK needed to run to slow down that DLINE. Screens and draws are the 1st rule of beating pressure. However Mizzou didn't need to bring anybody from the 2nd level, so even screens wouldn't work all that well. I didn't see enough of what was going on down field as in who was open and not. I don't know if 3 man routes were working out. I do know that playing QB in the SEC gets infinitely more difficult when you get hit every second throw.

I am excited for the next 2 years though. Team has to tackle better. That is the defenses main problem. An easy way to tackle better is to get multiple guys to the ball carrier. They did better at that in the 2nd half yesterday.

KY is definitely light years ahead of where they have been- but you would never know it by watching this game.

I think unfortunately their youth and immaturity shows up from time to time, like the LSU game and this one.

That being said, they must learn from this one and grow from it. I believe that LSU at LSU was a tall order even if they had played well, but Missouri was a very winnable game and they just flat layed down from the first snap.

Only WR that can get open consistently hardly played today because of his hands. Personally I'd rather have Timmons, even with his drop problems, out there then Herrick. You don't even have to guard Herrick when he's in.

Reality

 

The problem is discovering which reality is really the truth - the team that put up 30 plus on miss st and Florida and looked very good in defeat --and looked good against SO Car . OR the timid scared crap we saw at LSU and yesterday . Is the tail wagging the dog , meaning Neal Brown isn't the problem and Towles was flat out awful or was the total lack of aggression in play calling the issue . Prob a mixture of the two . There were several big 3rd and less than ten , where Towles threw short before giving the play time to develop . But the play calling was putrid .you can apologize for NB all you want and ask me what I would have done but Im not paid huge bucks to run an SEC offense - NB is . We were 2-4 for 2 yards with a minute to go in the half . Same O that threw for 360 last week . It wasn't just " no so good " or simply an off day . That was a train wreck .

I think the offense was a combo of things. The line stinking, receivers not getting open, PT not throwing to the open ones/making bad throws, drops, play calling. That there is a recipe for what we saw yesterday. Everyone dropped the ball offensively, it's a shame too cause Mizzou really was terrible offensively too and the game was there for the taking.

I think this game was a prime example how those who were saying PT is a NFL QB has jumped the gun a little early.
