Enough zone already! When a team shoots like that abandon the zone. I see they run high school sets, but HHS plays little like less than 5% zone. Teach the boys to guard way to many open looks! Get the ball inside Starkey could have had a field day! Twenhofel had no inside game. The Breds were hot but not contested. Last comment was real impressed with twenhofel point guard. Good bunch of kids, sad HMS season ends first or second game I was able to attend this year, so an observation based on what I saw last night nothing more.

 

Yup, I kept yelling for Alex to take his man everytime. No way he could defend him.

 

Our wings didnt rotate and contest the 3's no doubt.

 

We also had a lot of kids standing around watching the flight of the ball and not attacking the boards including my stepson.

 

They should have stayed man-man as the 3/2 zone was not affective due to the wings not getting out quick enough to contest when the ball was rotated. I would rather give up a 2pt basket on a kid going around my defender than watch them continue to stick 3 pointers in my eye.

 

In the end the turning point of the game like most games is the first 3-4 minutes to start the 2nd half. Highlands was stuck on 27 for a long long time which is what they went into the half showing. Twenhofel was down 4pts at the half and suddenly was up by 6. A huge 10 pt swing.

I for one would like to see that, I think that it is two or three small school division teams that could beat any big school division team on any night. 6th thru 8th (respective grade)

 

In the 6th grade divison Beechwood is probably the 2nd best team in both divisions behind Highlands. I would then have Conner, Woodland and IHM. It will be interesting next year to see Blessed Sacrament when they combine their teams into an A & B team.

Beechwood 6th beat Newport tonight by 20 or so. Newport only had four 6th graders available so hey brought up three 7th graders to play. The four 6th graders they did have were decent players..

Looking for Conner to win by double digits and I'm going with Ockerman upsetting IHM. I was impressed with Ockerman last time Conner played them and I think it is a bad match up for IHM.

My opinion looking at Conner vs SPX. This is a coin toss. SPX came into Conner and won big....Conner won at SPX. A neutral floor this should be a really good game.

So is this an NKMSAA mistake or what? We were emailed this morning saying that our game time for tonight was moved from 7pm to 6pm. Are game schedules not set in stone? How do you change game times the day of? Are the rest of the games subject to change as well?

Watched the small school division match up between Beechwood and Newport last night. The 6th grade tigers won convincingly and yes versus some of the 7th grade wildcats, but we are talking about a good legitimate, could compete with any "Big" school division team, a very well rounded team(Beechwood). The 7th grade wildcats won the game though the score did not dictate the game, tigers got down big early and could never really get out the hole, but it was a good show from both teams and Coaches, Newport 7th stays undefeated. The 8th grade wildcats also won by a good margin and the game got somewhat a little heated at times, yet overall it was a good games to watch.

Conner 6th wins big over SPX...the point guard for SPX is a really good.

 

I heard IHM beat Ockerman....rubber match Thursday at Gray IHM vs Conner.

 

I haven't heard anything about the 7th grade but I'm assuming Conner and SPX will play for the chance to play Saturday.

St. Pius beat IHM in the 8th Grade East Regional by 7 after being tied going into the 4th. Pius did a nice job hitting their free throws. Solid team.
