What if President Obama is a Muslim

Featured Replies

Whether he is a Muslim, Agnostic, Atheist, Christian or what not makes no difference to me nor should it to anyone. The most qualified person should be leading the country that we think will do the best job. Religious/Cultural beliefs should not matter as long as they do not lead to persecution on other groups by said person. Either way, I've never judged Obama based on this to begin with.

I understood the question (and correct me if I'm wrong PP) as not is Obama a Muslim, or if he's been lying and hiding the fact that he is in fact Muslim. I took the question that IF he were a Muslim, would that be an issue?? Forget the Obama specifically. We all know how many of you out in BGP land feel about him. Could we as a country accept having a Muslim president??
Well that's just a silly question for me and maybe also for others. Perhaps that's why it got overlooked. I think I saw quite a few people say they don't care what someone's religion is, apparently that isn't good enough of an answer though.
Yeah yeah yeah yada yada yada. My bad. I'll make sure I stick to the script from now on. I forget and stray from the script from time to time. Stupid silly me.

Yep. That's it. Silly me for trying to stimulate rational discussion about Obama. (cue the Obama hatred)
Get over it. He's treated no differently than Bush, Clinton or any other president from recent times.

To parrot a few others, I don't care what someone's religion is, I just want someone that can lead and do right by the country. You seem to want to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Some people need to come to grips with the fact that most people who despise Obama - and I place myself unapologetically in that camp - base their opinions of Obama squarely on his despicable actions as president. Obama's skin color, his religion, his big ears, his ridiculous throwing motion, and every other superficial physical characteristic or belief are irrelevant to most of the criticism that he receives.

If the question posed had been would it matter if a generic president or candidate is a Muslim, then my answer would have been yes, it would. I would not completely rule out voting for a Muslim candidate for president, but such a candidate would have a steep hill to climb to gain my support. The Muslims who have earned my trust and respect live in fear for their lives because of their criticism of Islamic terrorists and radical imams.

The way that the OP was written, given his dismal record, Obama's religion is a non-factor for me. I don't care what religion he wants to claim as his own. Obama's job performance over the past six years is all that should matter to any voter in November. As Obama said, his policies will be on the ballot.

Exactly the point of my post earlier. Agree totally.

Nah, I like a good discussion on sociological issues sometimes. Unfortunately I forget that some of you can't get past certain issues and participate in a good discussion.

I thought we weren't allowed to talk about Bush in comparison to Obama. We can't blame Bush for Obama's failures. Sounds like you need to get over it.

But he's supposed to be.

FWIW I tend to believe that Obama is an atheist, not willing to admit or believe that anyone or anything is greater then himself.

The middle paragraph is what I was looking for is the discussion I was hoping to have. Not my fault you see a name and go off the rails. Maybe you should relax a little.

I've seen those people also. Also seen a whole lot more crying about Obama's dismal performance also. That's a whole other thread.

Actually, I thought I answered the question exactly the way it was presented. Maybe I didn't, I don't know now. I'm so freaking confused.:idunno:

I'm right there with you. :idunno:

Maybe someone didn't get the answers they wanted?

I know the obvious answer. That's an easy one. If Obama is a Muslim he's a full fledged liar who hoodwinked the American people into believing he's a Christian. Got it. That's my fault for assuming people are on my wavelength. It's a wavelength thing. No biggie.

It's a way of life. You get used to it after a while. :)

What's inaccurate about that?
