Jude was a tremendous athlete at the high school ranks. I actually got to watch the Cov Cath game in question. Against the Colonels in 2010, his first carry was for a loss of two. The Cov Cath student section began chanting, "Overrated!" Then 430+ yards later they weren't. Although he was a great running back, I feel that he was an even better wrestler. I live in the Richmond area and have had the chance to watch him play a few times at EKU. Going in to this season he was #1 on the depth chart before the Mobley transfer.

Haven't seen Harris play yet but did see Alexander. Throw out all the stats, the best running back in Kentucky I've ever seen & played against was Tim Hampton from Clark County 1991, it took 7+ guys to tackle him, beat us & X back to back to win state in the old 4A top division, I believe they're still the only team to ever do that & win state. There's a YouTube video floating around of him running thru X's entire defense in the state title game, he was amazing. I would love to see Harris play at some point this season, but from the highlights he's not a big powerful back like Hampton was.

Highlands. Graduated in '96 when they won state and finished in USA Top 25. Beat Male in scrimmage that year and Hoptown w/ Pinner in the final. Averaged over 10 yds/carry and had the sickest spin move that I ever saw. It was so quick and gained so much ground that it just left you flat footed.

 

He went to a pretty strong JUCO in AZ and broke his ankle. Wound up at Thomas More and rushed for 1,000 yds twice.

I say all of that to say this...Both of these guys are freaking special!!! You never know what the future will hold, but comparing High School Careers only I give a slight edge to Harris.

Jason Colemire was a very, very good running back who got the vast majority of the carriers in Alexander's Sophomore year and heading into his Jr. Once Colemire got hurt, Alexander shifted over to the feature back in the I and took off.

 

I mentioned earlier that Harris wins on measurables. Shaun had things that don't show up so well at camps. Incredible vision, the patience to set up blocks and incredible explosiveness to hit the hole. Watch his freshman run against LSU for 60+ yards. That's how he ran in high school and how he ran for the Seahawks.

He used to warm up in pregame throwing right handed and left handed over 50 yards. That was Highlands best passing play. Quick pitch to Frisk, left or right, let Stegman take off on a streak so you have no corner support. Frisk is one-on-one w/ the end or OLB (ME, I got embarrased) and have Smith or someone else drag across the field. Absolutely dangerous.

I think I read that Alexander took over as feature back in his Soph year not sometime in his Junior season. Any kid that rushes for 6000 yards in high school I'd argue has great vision, sets up his blocks and hits the hole explosively. Alexander is one of the All-Time Great no question about it!

 

I understand you sticking by the NKY player...there is no way to settle this discussion.

 

If Harris goes on to an All-Pro Career, it doesn't make what he did in High School any better.

S.Alexander was a 4 star prospect coming out of HS, Harris is a 5 star prospect.. I think the only way to compare is by there ranking.. Sonny Collins is the only other 5 star RB I can remember even being a 5 star outside of Harris. Can't remember what Al Baker was, he may have been a 5 star.

By the way, that 1994 team was unreal. Randy Moss, Alexander, Ahmad Green, Charles Woodson Takeo Spikes, Kevin Faulk. Those are good NFL careers right there.
