It will be hard to top Shaun Alexander if we look at a body of work as a whole. Had Alexander not played at the same time as Tim Couch, who ESPN named as one of their top 10 prep recruits EVER, then he'd have much more of a place in Kentucky lore.

 

Not saying that Damian Harris can't one day top Alexander, just that if we're looking his whole career, it's going to be pretty dang tough to top him.

From second hand information and take this for what it's worth, I have a friend who is good friends with a coach from a top SEC school who told him last spring that Harris will be considered the best running back in KY high school history after his Senior season.

Only played QB senior year was a RB every season prior. He is a RB.

No.

Stats mean nothing in most cases, look at Dominque Hayden, all time this and that, never got a college offer as far as I know.

By the end of the season I think he will have established himself as the best.

Definitely Alexander. Boone Co. used to be a power in NoKy. I'm not aware that Madison Southern has ever been considered a serious consistent threat for district and region titles.

The old show scholastic sports America had him starting in a 2 man backfield w Aman (sp?) Green. They were the USA Today backs also. Additionally he was given a small feature in Sports Illustrated. As for competition, you can only look at the strength of the teams they played at the time they played them. I feel safe to say that Harris never faced what Alexander did. 2 TD'S at the Pit agaist Elder in a win. Making the 4A finals. Harris hasn't seen that type of competition yet.

At this level, an elite back can make up for a weaker offensive line when facing average to above average competition. Alexander faced some of the best in NKY and the state.

Al Baker/ class of 1986 from Trigg County. He was the #1 rated running back in the nation and was big and fast 6'1" and 230 pounds and ran a 4.4 forty. He was a stud back then.
