After tonight's games, here is how I see 6A finishing

4) Ryle

Yup. FINALLY they play a 6a team, albeit a bad 6A team. This team not nearly as good as last year, and wait until they lose their stud LBs and those two tackles on the OLine. This year will be a disappointment, but next year will be back to the norm for SK football, the've actually scheduled a little bit. No more 2a schools to feed the egos.

How many games have you watched Ryle play, Clyde the Glide? Ryle has improved each week and lost 3 winnable games; Cooper, Shelby, and SK. Once Ryle figures out how to win...the sky is the limit. Ala, SK in 2008... what was their record before going on the great run??

Simon Kenton scored the go-ahead touchdown with 22 seconds remaining to edge Ryle, 24-17 on Friday.

 

Senior Logan Winkler caught a 14-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Cameron Racke to cap off a bizarre fourth quarter.

 

The Raiders dominated the first half, outgaining the Pioneers, 235-88 and led 10-7 at the break.

 

Simon Kenton came back and took the lead with 4:05 left in the third quarter, but in the final minute of that stanza, Ryle’s Grant Vercheak blocked a punt and senior Gavin Brandt recovered it for a touchdown, making it 17-14 Raiders.

 

With 2:27 left in the fourth quarter, Pioneers senior Hrusto Selimovic kicked a career-long 42-yard field goal to tie it after Simon Kenton had been assessed a delay of game penalty.

 

Ryle tried to run the clock out, since the Pioneers were out of time outs, and the Raiders attempted to punt in the final minute. But following a low snap, it was ruled the punter’s knee was down, and Simon Kenton took over on the 14.

 

With no time outs and less than a half a minute to play Racke rolled right on the first play and threw a ball into the end zone was the tipped incomplete.

 

Racke threw the game-winning score on second down.

 

On the final play, Ryle lateraled and got all the way to the 30 yard line before being tackled.

 

Junior Dillon Powell led the Pioneers in rushing with 116 ground yards on 26 carries, and Winkler caught a team-high five passes for 47 yards and the decisive TD.

 

Junior Mitchell Bateman paced the Raiders with seven carries for 120 yards and one score, and junior Colin England ran the ball 16 times for 96 yards.

Wow....welcome back Raiders. Neers were lucky to have "escaped" with a win. All world sk teams don't give up 235 yards of offense in a half. So the weak schedule has just masked the pioneers weaknesses.

Only thing I'm going to say is that it was obviously a myth that it is only one fan base that feels this way about the pioneers. I don't see ANY negative replies from any HHS people. So this is coming from others.

Sk still won the game people seem to be forgetting that.

Ryle can't score enough against good D. Can't throw well enough to free up the run game.

 

Dixie will have to implode for Ryle to keep it close.
