Outside of that list, The top 3 in NKY 6A would be competitive with or beat every other team in 6a.

 

NKY 6A would be competitive this next group, but I would rate Manual, McCracken, and Meade ahead of them.

How is Lexington compared to past years? I get the sense that this year it has mirrored the improvement in NKY but don't follow it close enough to know for sure.

Okay, let me ask these questions, since we seem to want to use SK as the measuring stick.

 

There seems to be non-biased NKY fans on here that seem to feel SK can play with the 10 6A teams I listed. So I'm really curious. My question...what makes you feel they can? What have they done over the last two years that makes you feel so confident they can compete? Is it the scrimmage of a admitted down St. X team that appears to be having problems scoring? I just look back over the last two years and wonder why people feel so confident about them competing with those teams. Serious question...I don't get what it is.

 

Secondly, everyone seems to say "outside of the Louisville teams". Well you can't really take them out, right? They would be included in a comparison of KY 6A schools, right? So why even say "outside of the Louisville schools". Last time I checked, Louisville is still in KY. What if I said I feel outside of the Lousiville schools and Scott Co, Bryan Station and a few others, all of KY 6A is mediocre? My point is, you can't take the 4-5 really good teams out and then judge yourself against the rest!

They had a win over the 4A state champ in game 1 last season. The year before they beat a good 5A Pulaski County team. Then 2011 was the 2-9 team that got torched in their last two games against Scott County and Trinity. We might be giving SK too much credit.

And then was on a VERY favorable side of the bracket last year and lost to a team no one had really heard of up here (Butler) until they beat Boone Co. Trust me, I would love to "debate" football with all our Louisville peers on here. I just don't feel we are even close yet.

I'd say that both Bryan Station and Lafayette are legit teams this year.

 

If Station doesn't self destruct they can beat anyone in Kentucky this year, best receiving core in the state and while their offense is simple it does the job because of their talent level in the skill positions.

 

Lafayette has a huge O-line led by a SEC committ, a playmaker at QB, and two other D1 players. They could very well be undefeated with a win against what many consider a top 5 team in the state overall (Scott County) if that game hadn't been called early.

 

Personally I'm not sold on Henry Clay, they have all the speed in the world but got handled fairly easily by Belfry. I think their main problem is that they are pretty one-dimensional, their quarterback is a great athlete but looking at his highlights I think there was only one pass on it. That being said I think they have the horses to ruin someone's season in the playoffs.

 

Dunbar looks to be decent but not a contender while Tates Creek is at the bottom of the totem pole.

Is speed uncontainable? I for one believe that speed kills, but not just raw speed. I have seen many times where the faster, more athletic team has lost the game. For example, a couple years ago, an average Dixie team competed with and almost beat a pretty darn good, athletic Henry Clay. Also, Highlands vs. Scott County a couple years ago.

No, you can't assure me of anything. Doubt if you've seen all three either. Seems like they were handled pretty easily by a 3A team, weren't they?

You must be bias, because NONE of them could beat Scott Co, nor Henry or Bryan Station. Only SK might beat Lafayette but not the other 2. SK is the top of the list in NKY and would be in the top 15 but the other two CC and Dixie are probably a step behind that.

This years Scott County is no where near last years. Also, high school games are all about match ups and I think that last year SK vs Scott County could have gone either way.

 

 

I think SK beats every team you mentioned. As far as Bryan Station vs SK, for me it is SK, SK has the d line to give them fits without having to blitz.
