You do know highlands don't prepare for Trinity like its a real game! So that statement is wrong.

 

I do know this, but no type of preparation is going to change a score of 40-0. Those scrimmages have been very lopsided over the years. IMO, it says more about how good Trinity is, then how good Highlands is. Highlands is still good despite the outcomes of these scrimmages.

If you really have seen them you haven't been paying attention.

 

First I have no reason to lie. Second, I am not saying they are NO good. I said that besides SK, again besides SK I think that the other two would not fare as well against HC, Bryan Station, or Lafayette. I agreed that SK is a top 10 team and the other two are in the 11-14 range. I never once said they were awful. I responded to the thread about NKY football. Now I do believe in recent years NKY has done well against Lexington in the playoffs. 2011- Boone beat Madison Central, Campbell beat Tates Creek and Ryle beat Clark Co. Dixie lost to Lafayette. IN 2012 SK and Campbell won and SK went on to play Scott Co and got blown out in regional finals. In 2013 3 out of 4 beat the other Louisville district and the Scott Co. district beat all 4 from the other Lexington district. So when you look at 2014. Strength of schedule is too early to tell but I think the speed of Bryan Station, HC and Lafayette is too much for CC and Dixie and only and if only they play each other will we truly be able to say for sure.

 

Overall I will go back to my original statement: The following I think this year beat SK, CC, and Dixie:

 

Male

Trinity

St. X

Manual

Scott Co.

 

After that I think SK can compete with most everyone else. However I think the following could beat CC and Dixie:

 

Meade Co

Central Hardin

McCracken Co

Lafayette

Bryan Station

Henry Clay

 

Hey the great thing is the NKY district gets to play Lafayette, Clark Co, Tate Creek, and Madison Central in the Playoffs in the regional rounds. I will say that I think they can win 3 out 4 of those first round games like they did in 2011. I guess we will wait and see.

Have played several of those Lex teams in the regular season and playoffs over the past 4-5 years, including a Bryan Station team with tons of speed and an athletic QB- beating them in the playoffs on their field.

Male, Trinity, St. X and Scott County are on another level, at this point in time. Scott County will slip if they build the 2nd high school. St. X has shown signs of inconsistency. You never know what you'll get from Male. SK has a chance to climb into the top 3 from the top 5.

Correct but their line allows them to drop 8 into coverage. Would be a fun game to watch.

Very similar to a game 3 years ago that SK won in a close one, on a very cold night in Lexington.

Based upon the bold, then Highlands is mediocre too. They get pounded in the scrimmage each year by Trinity. The teams in the super district play each other really tight. Scott County was able to beat the best super district team last year in Male. Bowling Green has beaten X the past few years. So essentially outside of the Male, Manual, Trinity, X, Scott County, and Bowling Green, the whole state is mediocre. You know, since you can remove those top 4-5 schools from KY and all. The only reason Bryan Station is mentioned in this paragraph is because it is the only way to justify a really close game for Highlands.

 

I don't believe that Highlands or Bryan Station are mediocre, but I also don't think you have to be able to beat the top 4 or 5 teams in the state in order to be considered a good team.

Secondly, if you want to do that, I asked a question before about ranking each team vs overall teams in the state. I listed about 30 teams from all the divisions and asked to place SK where you felt they were and HHS where you felt they were in the state overall. Third, HHS gets pounded in that scrimmage every year and most of those years, hhs is still considered the 2nd or 3rd best team in the state. So I'm not sure what your point is. The one year they got pounded in the scrimmage, they turned about 2 weeks later and made SC look silly. There were also many that felt another year that HHS could have beaten Trinity by the end of the year because of where HHS has gone and the way T was playing at the end. So you tell me what the scrimmage really means for HHS. It truly means nothing. Just like 7 on 7 in the summer, the birds work on stuff. They are not concerned about winning. Everyone judges on the outcomes of practices and thinks that where the birds are. It's absolutely hilarious.

 

Lastly, You bold the second paragraph, but ignore the first question.

The SK team that I saw against NewCath is better than last year's team. They don't have Kuntz, but they seem more faster.

The point is, you are holding NKY 6A up against a bar that you are not willing to hold Highlands to. That bar is Trinity and the Super district. You claim NKY 6A is bad because they have been unable to beat Trinity, Male, X and the like, but you give Highlands a pass. When a team from NKY 6A competes with Highlands and loses by 7, you claim it is because Highlands played bad. Give credit when credit is due. NKY 6A is not as bad as you want people to think it is. That is the point.

And games from 4-5 years ago are what you are basing SK's dominance on. Well when I played in the 80's, the Lexington schools dominated NKY schools. Should I use that and say "past history tells me the Lex schools would dominate NKY schools. Cause it's really the same things, except the kids from 4-5 years ago are much younger than the kids from the 80's. But they are still gone!
