NKY 6A...Mediocre compared to the rest of the state??

The point is, you are holding NKY 6A up against a bar that you are not willing to hold Highlands to. That bar is Trinity and the Super district. You claim NKY 6A is bad because they have been unable to beat Trinity, Male, X and the like, but you give Highlands a pass. When a team from NKY 6A competes with Highlands and loses by 7, you claim it is because Highlands played bad. Give credit when credit is due. NKY 6A is not as bad as you want people to think it is. That is the point.

Is the title "are the nky 6A teams and Highlands mediocre?". I don't understand why you keep bringing up HHS. And I don't understand why we keep only talking about SK. AND NO ONE has answered me on why we feel SK can compete THIS YEAR with the 10 6a schools I listed based on the last two years of SK football. WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THEY CAN PLAY WITH ANY OF THE TEN...THIS YEAR? LET ALONE THE OTHER 4 NKY TEAMS. I'm not saying they can't play with some of them, but I am saying I have no idea where all the confidence comes from. Over the last two years, SK has done nothing for me to confidently say they would beat any of those 10 schools I listed in the playoffs. Have they?

Also, in terms of NKY 6A. If you have 32 teams in KY 6A and in NKY's district, one is in the top 10 and the other 4 are scattered anywhere from 13 to 30, would you consider that mediocre as a whole? Keep in mind, the middle of the pack would be 16. In my opinion with 32 teams, the very simplistic breakdown says, 10 schools in 6A are good, 10 schools are mediocre and 10 schools are bad. If 4 of your 5 schools in the district fall in to the mediocre to bad category, then where do you place the NKY district in KY 6a? Even if you could prove to me SK is in the top 5 (which would still be a very hard sell for me), the district is still mediocre.

Only 32 teams in KY 6A, so even Dixie at 14 is just a hair over the middle of the pack. And if you just put Trinity where there should be, that moves them all down at least one more spot. Is that mediocre or good?

After going two consecutive seasons at 3-8. We Dixie Heights Colonel fans are honored to be in the mix after going 8-4 last year. Please do us a favor and keep all the attention on SK and the Louisville teams. :)

I have said many times, I think Dixie and Camp Co (along with SK) are going in the right direction! I just wish one could consistently get over the hump!! NKY is bursting to support a true 6A competitor.

Crickets!

Your argument has no validity. If Campbell is mediocre/bad, then so is Highlands. On the field, Highlands won by 1 score. Campbell is 3-1. Dixie was beaten handily by CovCath but is otherwise 2-1. I don't think SK is top 5. In fact, I have never stated that. They haven't played any district games yet and haven't beaten anybody of substance, but they are 4-0. You need Bryan Station (2-2) to be good for you thinking Highlands is good to have any validity. The fact is that Highlands beat Bryan Station by 6 and Campbell by 7. Maybe those 2 just played bad since you don't like facts.

Based upon your argument, and the fact that half of the schools in Highlands district are in the bad category (would be 3 out of 5, but Pendleton dropped out). Does that mean NKY 4A is bad? No it doesn't mean that. I challenge you to find a district in the state that is solid from top to bottom other than the super district??? Where do you even get your rankings? AP poll? BGP poll? It is week 4. Nobody knows who is good yet. Highlands may beat CovCath and Highlands may lose to CovCath. Either way, Highlands is still a good team. Lafayette only beat Boone 30 - 14. Polls mean nothing. What happens on the field means something! You want to give Bryan Station props, but make an excuse for the Campbell game as Highlands playing bad.

I believe 3 teams in NKY 6A could compete with or beat any team outside of the top 5 teams in 6A. I think 3 teams in NKY 6A could compete with or beat all of the schools from 5A - 1A. One school in NKY 6A has proven, on the field, that they can compete with Highlands, but you dismiss that. Highlands and CovCath are tough in 4A. Bowling Green would be extremely tough in 5A. Otherwise, this early in the season, nobody knows who is actually good or not.

The Anti-SK nonsense is so illogical. As we have said, this ain't your daddy's SK team. This isn't 1985. The Ponzer brothers aren't walking through that door. Pay attention to what has been going on the last 7-8 years please. If you did, you'd realize where this program is and where it is going.

Can you stay on topic and answer the question just once? What in the world does HHS and Cov Cath have to do with the topic? Highlands and Cov Cath are mediocre, there. Now answer the question about 6A. Tell me what SK (or any of the other NKY 6A teams) has done to prove they can compete consistently with the 10 6A schools I named. I don't mean "the blind squirrel" theory. I'm saying SK may compete consistently with a few of those 10 and the others would get beat the majority of the time this year against almost all of them. Tell me why you know for sure that I'm wrong. SK has been the best team the last two years and as soon as they meet a team in the playoffs the caliber of any of those teams listed, they have lost in the playoffs. So what makes you think this year, they can beat them? Especially when some SK fans are even telling you last year's team was better. Playing the other NKY 6A teams tells us absolutely nothing. Because recent history tells us as soon as any of them meet a DECENT TEAM in the playoffs, they lose. If NKY 6A football is more than mediocre, then they should have had a team in the finals last year because if they were good, it was an absolute cakewalk to the finals last year. The same teams that many are saying SK was/is better than were on that side of the bracket with NONE of the perceived powerhouses. The year before that they were destroyed by a decent SC that had not made their name yet either. Were they on their way up, yep, but not dominate by any means. My point being...we keep saying SK is good, but in recent history, they (or the other nky 6a teams) have never beaten ANYONE decent other than each other. How can we say they are good? I don't get it.

And yes, NKY 4A is BAD as a whole. Absolutely believe that. I wish HHS wasn't in that district.

Not saying this is the ole SK team. But please do something before we crown you one of the best in the state. What has SK done that's better than the majority of the top half of the teams in 6A over the last 7-8 years. Are they better and more competitive, absolutely. But that wouldn't be that hard to do with the growth they have seen, the kids they are getting now and where they came from. Did you see the pic of the banner on here. What part of that makes us say, SK is a great program. You are mistaking my points. I'm not saying I don't love to see the improvements of where the SK program has come from. But I'm very reluctant to crown them a top program. In nky 6A, yes. You've proven that. But beyond that...I'm not sold yet. SK wants to use names like Trinity and X always being in their way. Well the last two years, when they were supposed to be good, they didn't make it to T and X. They won games in the playoffs against bad to mediocre teams and then lose to decent teams. I really don't understand why we should say anything else other than SK is a program on the rise. Until they make some waves, that's all it is and there are legitimate reasons for that. One big one is the growth. Again, I would love to talk smack with the other good 6A schools, give me some ammo and UKfan and I will go on a mission! Or the best Dixie fan. Or the best Camels fan. I'm in, just give me some ammo! Can't fight them with a BB gun! They have tanks on their side!

Not sure how many times I can say this but here I go again. SK isn't Male. SK isn't Trinity. SK isn't St. Xavier. SK isn't Scott County. Do we feel like we're the 5th best program in 6A over the past 7-8 years? ABSOLUTELY. Do we feel like we're the best 6A program in NKY? Yes. Same as Boone did during their reign and Ryle did during theirs. It's our turn. Our program is growing and we have aspirations to be in the top with those guys and are working to get there. At this point, no one else in 6A besides the big boys can say they've done what we have with district/regional success.

You have convinced yourself that this is a legitimate thread. Even non SK people see the lame agenda behind this thread. It is childish and immature.

Really! It's 6 pages long with very many responses other than me...including some from you! It was started in a different thread that had many other responses. Because now you can't answer the questions I ask, it becomes immature???

Answer the question or ignore it and quit replying. That's pretty simple. I'm not twisting your arm to look at the thread.

Here is your list:

A

Male - SK beat them in 2009

Trinity

Scott County

St Xavier

Manual

McCracken County - Beat 0-10 boone last year

Meade County - No recent history

Central Hardin - No recent history.

Bryan Station - SK beat them in 2012.

Lex Lafayette - Boone beat them in 2011.

It is week 4. There is no history this year to prove who would beat who. It is completely subjective. The games would be competitive. I will agree that top to bottom, the NKY 6A district is mediocre, if you will agree that every district in the state from top to bottom (other than the super district) is mediocre. District mediocrity is generalization that applies to the whole state.

Here are the facts:

Recent history shows the only teams in 6A that NKY 6A has consistently had problems with over the years are X, Trinity, Male and Scott County. In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, 3 of the 4 NKY playoff teams advanced to the second round.

You talk of an easy road to the finals. Was it that easy? Scott County beat Meade County 21-14 in the finals. Butler was a good team, who lost to Male, Manual and Meade Co. They were also the only team from their district to advance to the second round. Dixie, SK and Campbell all beat the other 3 teams in the district. So of the 8 teams in that region, Butler was best, followed by the 3 NKY schools, then the rest of Butler's district.

The top teams in the NKY 6A district are good teams. They are not the elite, but they are good football teams.

Have a lot more thoughts, but the first glaring thing that jumps out at me is the bolded. None of the teams that everyone admits they have problems with were on their side. Yet they didn't even make it to Meade or McCracken, who most are saying SK would beat! How do we know?? Well they had their chance to prove that but couldn't make it past Butler, who got beat by Meade and you admitted Butler must have played in an awful district if they all got beat in the first round except Butler. You can't talk like you're good until you prove you're good. Is making it to the second round of the playoffs a great accomplishment? I mean every team makes the playoffs!!! Making to the second round when there are 0-10 teams in the playoffs is not really a great accomplishment, is it?

Next thing that comes to mind...WHAT HAS SK OR THE OTHER SCHOOLS DONE THAT MAKES YOU THINK IN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS THAT THEY CAN CONSISTENTLY COMPETE WITH THE TEAMS I LISTED THIS YEAR. 2009 AND 2010 ARE 4 AND 5 YEARS AGO. HECK, EVEN 2012 ISN'T HARDLY ANY KIDS THAT WOULD BE ON THIS YEAR'S TEAM.

And I looked back at that 2012 game with Bryan Station that keeps getting mentioned. You beat them by one TD. They were a 6-4 3 seed that played in the weak Lexington district you and others speak about.
