I think some are underestimating just how tough and good Nick Ruthsatz was.

I think some are underestimating just how much Mark Schult will be missed.

Point taken, but no one was touting these guys at the beginning of the year last year.

I don't know all the teams well enough to give a fair assessment. NCC has had the best team on paper the last several years and they are the Andy Dalton's of the 9th Region. Until they win it, it is hard to pick them. Holmes has the best player, but not sure how they will respond to Coach L ( that is not a criticism of Coach L). CCH will be good but lost a lot. Dixie has lots of experienced players and should be good. Cooper has the nucleus of a good team back and a bery good coach. Campbell Co, whom I did see last year is the real deal and, I'll say it, the best one two punch in the area.. They can play with any team in the 9th. Don't know hardly anything about the 8th.

A couple of Bulldog upperclassmen recently said that the overall team mood/morale is currently the best they can remember (which is not to say it was poor in the past). Hopefully, this will extend to on-court performance as well.

1) NCC

2) Holmes

3) CovCath

4) Dixie

5) Campbell

6) Shelby

7) Mason

8) Collins

9) Boone Co.

10) Newport

I completely agree with you on this one. CovCath has no one that can even come close to filling Nick Ruthsatz shoes...no one!!!! They might be a good team and I won't dispute that, but they won't be remotely as good as last years team was.

While the bulldogs didn't look very strong in their summer tournament I believe their new addition and their "overall team mood/morale" may help them more than expected. When I saw them last they all looked very strong and I believe they will run teams until they can no longer run. Not saying they should be much higher on the list, but could be a team that makes some unexpected noise. It will be interesting to see what Coach Listerman can do with his young stallions and 1 beetle.. :)

I don't think people are giving enough credit to CVH. I agree Nick Ruthsatz will be missed greatly but I have to say that gave Cole an excellent teacher as a freshman to learn from. Cole will never be the flashy/show type of player like Nick but I'm pretty sure by the end if the game opposing coaches are going to be scratching their heads and wondering how the heck he scored 20+ against.

I agree. Ruthsath made EVERYTHING happen, and took over when he had to. Will be missed much more than some think.

I agree they will be very good, but would question they have the best 1-2 punch in the area.

Offensive

Didn't Walton win like 4 games last year total?

Correct. 4-20 last season, with wins over Highlands, Eminence, Lloyd and Carroll County.

I'm putting Boone, Cooper and even St Henry above Walton Verona and Simon Kenton.

Having Walton in the conversation is an indication of the lack of strength in this group once you get past the top 5. Agree or disagree?

Also, why does it seem like SK appears to underachieve on a regular basis? With student body that size, it would seem that would have more success. They should be able to sleep walk through their district. They should be knocking on the door of the regional finals year after year.

but this won't!!! :lol2:

Absolutely the worst call ever. .. of course after watching it in slow motion. .. haha

A few things, I think Cov Cath should be #1 to start the year. I saw them this summer and while they'll miss Nick, they looked really good. I'd take Holmes above Dixie. I like Campbell in the 10th and have them above Dixie and Holmes. Are you not including Grant County? They're in the 8th and after seeing them this summer are my favorite in the 8th, way above Walton this year.

My rankings:

1. Cov Cath - best system

2. New Cath - best inside out combo

3. Campbell Co. - best team in 10th

4. Holmes - guards are awesome and guards win at all levels

5. Dixie - guard play is suspect

6. Mason Co. - very balanced

7. Grant County - big and balanced

8. Harrison Co. - Lost a starter by transfer

9. Shelby Co. - return a lot but depth is a question

10. Simon Kenton - need to replace scoring and leadership

SK returns a lot of good players. Racke and Hawkins both Sophomores can light it up.

I'm putting Boone, Cooper and even St Henry above Walton Verona and Simon Kenton.

Simon Kenton has a great team this year they return 6 Seniors, 7 to 8 Juniors and 3 Sophomores.
