Regardless of region, how would you rank the 10 best teams in the NKY area for the '14-'15 season?

Good list... although I think before all is said and done Cooper will be in this list somewhere. They have some nice pieces and a good coach... I really think they will make some noise this year.

I also think you might have CovCath too low :)

The more I think about it, the more I think I'd put Dixie (and maybe Holmes) above CovCath.

No way. Have you seen them play this year? I was being serious. IMO CCH is the #1 team in NKY this year. They have reloaded nicely and I firmly believe they have the best coach.

They are the defending state champs and until someone beats them they deserve the #1 ranking!

Seen them play, played with them, know the boys...yes to all. I think they are going to have some real voids in leadership on that team. Bo isn't a leader and is wildly inconsistent. Cooper, Schumate, and Romes aren't vocal leaders and didn't do much contributing to last year's Championship. Will didn't play much last year and is being counted on for a LOT. Two years ago they had 3 strong senior leaders, last year they had strong leadership in Nick, Schult, Ben, and Parker, this year, who is stepping up? Could everything go right and they are the best team? Sure. I think Cole is much better than many give him credit for, and Bo certainly has the potential to be a Top 5 player in the region, but that isn't a guarantee.

Ruthsatz is an excellent coach and they have a great staff. No doubt.

Your last point is as useless to me as boobies on a bull. This is a different team, minus their best player and Sweet 16 MOP, so that has no bearing on where this year's team is ranked. This team is deep, and has 1 and maybe 2 very good high school players, but beyond that, they have as many question marks as The Riddler's costume.

A few things, I think Cov Cath should be #1 to start the year. I saw them this summer and while they'll miss Nick, they looked really good. I'd take Holmes above Dixie. I like Campbell in the 10th and have them above Dixie and Holmes. Are you not including Grant County? They're in the 8th and after seeing them this summer are my favorite in the 8th, way above Walton this year.

My rankings:

1. Cov Cath - best system

2. New Cath - best inside out combo

3. Campbell Co. - best team in 10th

4. Holmes - guards are awesome and guards win at all levels

5. Dixie - guard play is suspect

6. Mason Co. - very balanced

7. Grant County - big and balanced

8. Harrison Co. - Lost a starter by transfer

9. Shelby Co. - return a lot but depth is a question

10. Simon Kenton - need to replace scoring and leadership

Zero chance anyone can make an argument to have CCH start the season rated higher than NCC.

"Useless as Boobies on a Bull" -- my Fantasy Football team's new tagline!

I hear you, but I really think the power of the system there will put them over the top... and someone will step up as the leader on the team....

I also believe (as much as it pains me to as an alum) that Holmes will be really down this year, compared to the past couple of years at least.

I'll take CovCath's depth and Coach Ruthsatz' system over NCC this year for sure. He developed the blueprint last year and has more horses to run it this year, while NCC has even less of a chance to do anything about it this year...

Faceguard Zack and do not let him touch the ball... make someone else initiate their offense. I predict that strategy will even be more effective this year than last year with Tanner gone.

I'd also not be surprised to see CovCath press more this year given their depth... and I don't see that working in NewCath's favor either.

I don't know the 8th well enough to put a top 10 list together, but Campbell is the only sure thing for the 10th IMO. Harrison would be on there, but with the departure of Jenkins, I just don't see it now.

While I agree that NCC should be ranked higher than CCH, it is worth noting that almost every year that is the case, and last year CovCath beat them 1.5 times convincingly. Just saying maybe NCC is (and has been for the last 2-3 or more years) better on paper, but on the court, at least last year, CCH was better.

Didn't Walton win like 4 games last year total?

I don't know all the teams well enough to give a fair assessment. NCC has had the best team on paper the last several years and they are the Andy Dalton's of the 9th Region. Until they win it, it is hard to pick them. Holmes has the best player, but not sure how they will respond to Coach L ( that is not a criticism of Coach L). CCH will be good but lost a lot. Dixie has lots of experienced players and should be good. Cooper has the nucleus of a good team back and a bery good coach. Campbell Co, whom I did see last year is the real deal and, I'll say it, the best one two punch in the area.. They can play with any team in the 9th. Don't know hardly anything about the 8th.

I'm putting Boone, Cooper and even St Henry above Walton Verona and Simon Kenton.
