Rank The Top 10 Teams In The 8th, 9th & 10th

BGP just forgets about Grant Co. They won the district last year, and while they graduated their two big players Cummins and Hicks, they keep the core of the team with and have two players who should receive serious consideration for 8th region player of the year in Austin Johnson and Seth Adkins. This years senior class has played together since 3rd grade and I challenge you to find a more close knit group of teammates. Don't sleep on Grant County.

I think it's more the players and coaches at Grant are unknown. When you have little info on the coach that makes it hard to find out how the team will do. But I agree with you, Grant is being overlooked. I think they'll be very good this year.

If I'm not mistaken Grant Co. came to Brooksville last season and put a whoopin on my polar bears. Very good team that I agree may be being overlooked by most. With that said I also agree that we just don't hear or see many posts about the team/coach. Maybe now you can keep us in the loop about all things Grant Co. :thumb:

Also welcome to the site!!

Welcome to the site, and we look forward to hearing more about the Braves.

How many of these teams are top 25 worthy?

Holmes, Covcath, Newcath, Dixie, and Campbell are all top 25...IMO.

Holmes' date=' Covcath, Newcath, Dixie, and Campbell are all top 25...IMO.[/quote']

If agree with those 5 in top 25. Has to be one team from 8th in there too I would think.

And who would that be?

Owen Co intrigues me with Carson Williams and that junior class.

There are some good teams in the 8th. A lot of the good ones from last year graduated several per team. South Oldham won the region last year but graduated several. I look for Oldham to make some noise. Owen graduated five, but they still have Carson so they're going to get some attention.

While I agree that NCC should be ranked higher than CCH, it is worth noting that almost every year that is the case, and last year CovCath beat them 1.5 times convincingly. Just saying maybe NCC is (and has been for the last 2-3 or more years) better on paper, but on the court, at least last year, CCH was better.

I'm curious, how much of that is coaching? I don't know, just asking because as you e pointed out NCC is usually ranked real high on paper but when it counts in the big game they never seem to get over the hump lately.

Owen lost three starters from last year's team, including the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers.

I'm not sure. Dixie was a big favorite in '10. NewCath was a freak blown break away layup from taking the lead and ALL of the momentum in '11. '12 and '13 they just didn't hit shots. Last year was really bad w/ all of the missed shots in the paint and free throws. Just snake bit. If you can't shoot 40% you are going to have a tough night.

Not discrediting the starters Owen lost, but I'm willing to bet that this team will be better this year. They have a strong junior class.

If Grant could play all of their games at home, they'd be rock stars.

Agree totally.

Agree totally.

Disagree! Their defense was bad (see them vs Williamstown) and they didn't play anyone. Carson is good but they are TINY at every other spot. Don't see them challenging in the 8th.

I don't know how someone can rank Walton Verona over many teams on this list. Nothing against the school or the program, I know many people from there, but their athletics have plummeted the past 3 or 4 years. As for Campbell County, I think they are one of the best teams in the area with Cov Cath and Holmes. Should be a fun year and I am ready to see some action on the court.
