Highlands plays a GCL school every year it seems. I know they play Elder this year. I think Elder will be the 2nd best team in the GCL behind Moeller.

Thanks HB. For those of you just waking up from your summer break, the SK schedule next year includes out of district games with Cooper, Conner, Cov Cath and Highlands. No need to cross the wet thing to play games.

 

No need to play the big Cincy schools until you're ready to compete at that level. No one on here is saying that SK is ready to handle Moeller, Colerain or St. X.

Yes. I think they've played St X Cincy as well. Again, because of Highlands is always good and usually undefeated during the regular season, Ohio schools are willing to play them as beating them will result in more points and losing won't hurt as bad in Ohio's playoff system. Most every other school in NKY is a crapshoot as to how good they will be from year to year. Top Ohio schools are very mindful of their schedule and put it together based on if it can get them enough points to get into the playoffs. They can't afford to have bad games on the schedule and won't take a chance on a KY team that might or might not be good from year to year.

Again, is it who plays the tougher schedule, or who wins the title?? I again refer to Scott County 2014. Great team, terrible schedule, state champ. Trinity 2013, brutal schedule, didn't make the finals. Most Kentucky teams couldn't play Trinity's schedule if they wanted to. Those teams have to want to play you just as much as you want to play them. I doubt many of those out of state schools would even return Marksberry's call. And that's no knock on SK, it just is what it is.

Ok fair enough. Highlands is certainly on a different level, a level very, very few teams are. As far as Cov Cath, one could argue they've had just as good a run over the last 5-7 years. We will really see where they are when these teams start playing next year.

Overall, the argument being made is that SK has been the top 6A team in NKY over the last couple years. I don't think anyone (aside from one or two people) are saying they are a top program in the state. Best 6a team in NKY over the last few years...absolutely. They do need to do more to take that next step. But another deep playoff run or two, and they will be in the conversation.

Because they are and you would really know that if you watched a lot of NKY football. It's not only about one year, it's about what's been done over a period of time. South Kenton has really developed high quality players over the years and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

I believe there are 5 tiers of nky football. Tier 1 highlands, In a class of their own and i don't see anyone with them. I understand that Sk had a run to the state title game and a pretty good team last year. But you have to schedule better to get respect. Even CCH, I have been very disappointed with their schedule. The only great team Sk has played in the past 2 years was Scott co, and I believe it was 56-7. I'm not saying you have to schedule louisville and cincinnati. But trying to get cch and highlands. Like next year if they play and Sk wins against both teams then yes, we can say they are climbing on their tier. And to be honest, I hope Sk gets there because they're really no rivalries in NKY anymore.

I'm not saying the aren't . But I'll take fort Thomas and cov cath peewee over nkyfl any day.
