To think Simon Kenton is a doorstep team is delusional at this point. Their program is firing on all cylinders, which the South Kenton youth program has strongly contributed to. IMO, they are one of, if not the best programs of NKY now.

This is the part that people just don't get. Scheduling isn't as simple as calling someone up and saying "let's play" (although it can be). There has to be a mutual interest, and a common open date. And travel time/cost/convenience are a factor. Look at all the complaints/issues from last weekend about games not getting made up, the number one problem being travel time. There are a bunch of teams in Northern Ky (and while maybe not all great, they are mostly competitive), and many natural rivalries. It makes sense for these teams to play each other rather than scheduling 2 or 3 2 hour trips per season. And while scheduling tough teams can make you better, it also gets you beat up sometimes. Plenty of teams have been able to make deep playoff runs without packing their schedule top to bottom with hammers.

If HC is playing all their games at Scott, it is definitely an upgrade. Their facility was the last of the KC facilities built, but it is the best.

This year, HC plays 3 home games at Holmes (Holmes, Beechwood, Brossart) and 3 home games at Scott (Simon Kenton, NCC, Campbell County). Additionally, HC plays another road game at Scott (against Scott, of course)!

SK the last couple years have been the best NKY 6A team, but what does that actually mean?

 

So they may be the best 6A team in a very weak 6A area. Until they can go win some regional championships and make it to BG they really haven't done much except win sometimes against teams in a weak district.

 

I think SK should travel north and play some big schools is Cincy just to see if they measure up. Claiming to be the best team in NKY seems to be an empty boast when being the best team in NKY means nothing compared to state titles. When is the last time SK was invited to play on ESPN like some of the other high school football powers. Lets keep it all in perspective please.

The problem is, they don't even have to do that. They have some pretty good schools in this area they could play. They could schedule Cov Cath and Highlands and even Beechwood more years than not would give them a pretty good game. If there were no schools in the immediate area that could challenge them then I'd say head north young man, but there are schools int he area they could play that would challenge them.

Thanks HB. For those of you just waking up from your summer break, the SK schedule next year includes out of district games with Cooper, Conner, Cov Cath and Highlands. No need to cross the wet thing to play games.

 

No need to play the big Cincy schools until you're ready to compete at that level. No one on here is saying that SK is ready to handle Moeller, Colerain or St. X.

They have no reason to play SK. In fact it probably hurts the big schools chance of making the playoffs, the way Ohio's system is set up. I know Moeller and Cov Cath play, but that's probably more a function of Moellers head coaches connection to Cov Cath.

Moeller and CovCath were playing long before Rodenburg. CovCath is a Harbin Cow for Moeller, a team that will win a lot of games, yet for Moeller, is imminently beatable.
