August 12, 201412 yr What the heck are you talking about? :lol2: grasping a little there and certainly attempting to deflect the topic. Nice attempt at a slight of hand magic trick there:wave: Not trying to deflect at all. My point is that when assigning blame most people have made up their minds when they hear about the situation and no amount of evidence is going to get them to change their opinion. I remember the discussion that I mentioned and most well known police supporters would not place any blame on the officers that shot the amputee. The rest of the posters thought that they should get at least part of the blame. The most anti-police posters immediately wanted them locked up. In this case most Tony Stewart fans think he did nothing wrong while the people that don't like him want him to bear part of the responsibility. The ones that really don't like him have made it sound like he might have hit (but not tried to kill) Ward on purpose. It doesn't matter that from the video that we have now that it doesn't appear that he was doing anything any different than the car in front of him was and that only Ward's position changed. They're sure that he got that close on purpose even though it was Ward that was closing the distance between the two. Their minds are already made up. I was trying to point out how bias colors our perspective. I'm 100% neutral in this one. I've yet to hear a driver saw that Stewart did anything out of the ordinary so I have a hard time blaming him.
August 12, 201412 yr I'll just say this one last thing and bow out: We'll never know what was going through Stewart's mind unless he tells us, and you can bet he'd never admit to trying to scare Ward. (Unless Stewart was mic'd up and it hasn't been produced yet) That leaves me with this to make up my mind as to how I assign blame. What is more likely? Stewart was able to see that Ward was out of his car moving down the track with the plan to waggle his finger at him to show him up, get mad and decide to scare/show up the kid--all in about a 5 second span while having to devote at least part of his attention to navigating the track, keeping an eye out for emergency vehicle and the other car running a couple of seconds ahead. Or that Ward got upset, got closer to a surprised Stewart and got hit? This wasn't a super speedway where Stewart's spotters were telling him for the better part of a mile that the other driver was out of his car and looking for Tony. In fact, I can't figure out why anyone assumed that Stewart was mad at all--his car appeared to be fine. He was still in the race. To figure out what is going on, get mad and execute a plan is an awful lot to do in 5 seconds. So I ask again: Which above scenario is more likely?
August 12, 201412 yr A LOT can happen in the mind of someone in 5 seconds. From what I've, there is history between these 2 as well.

So you think Tony didn't know he put him in the wall, and saw his car up there after the fact from the other side of the track? Perhaps you should add that to your query. It's a sprint car. You can nearly touch the other cars from your seat. He knew he planted the kid. If we dispute that, well, I don't know what footing we are arguing on then, because it's not level.

Show me where I said he was unaware that he wrecked him. I said he had 5 seconds to determine that the kid was on the track, coming after him, get mad about it, decide what he was going to do about it and carry it out. All while watching out for other cars and emergency personnel. Then I asked what scenario was more likely.

I didn't say you did, but when making your comparison, you act like everything was hunky dory, and it wasn't. At least add the drama to the second part equally as you added it freely to the first.
August 12, 201412 yr It's funny that the best dirt track driver, and possibly the greatest over-all driver in the world today, all things considered, was unaware on a race track of his surroundings, what took place, and what was in front of him. Yep, the kid made a fatal dumb mistake.
August 12, 201412 yr I didn't say you did, but when making your comparison, you act like everything was hunky dory, and it wasn't. At least add the drama to the second part equally as you added it freely to the first. Your post clearly stated that you did not think that I didn't think that Stewart knew he "planted planted that kid" and that if we disputed that we were not on level ground. I never said anything of the sort. Knowing Stewart's reputation I would argue that it was more likely that, instead of being mad, that he thought it was funny that he spun the kid. It's just a big stretch fit me to believe that he could see what was going on, get that angry about it, formulate his plan and carry it out in that time frame. Especially since he hadn't been wrecked.
August 12, 201412 yr I don't know what went through TS's mind but there's no evidence what so ever to indicate he meant to hit him. The same could be said on the opposite side of the argument also. There is no evidence what so ever to indicate he didn't mean to hit him either. Just sayin.

August 12, 201412 yr Criminal charge possible for Stewart in Ward death http://sports.yahoo.com/news/criminal-charge-possible-stewart-ward-203116559--spt.html Nothing really new in that article as far as I could tell. Police still say he's cooperating and that as of now there is nothing suggesting anything criminal.
August 12, 201412 yr I really wish there was video of what Tony did right afterwards, did he run to see if the kid was ok,etc.?(didn't seem like it) How did he get from his car, off of the track and out of the area? The people that were videoing sounded mad as did the crowd in the background, did he need police escort? So many unanswered questions, why hasn't he spoken, explained or apologized? I've hit a dog by accident and pulled over right away and got out to see if it was ok, it tore me up. The video of him just sitting there in his car, waiting for someone to come and get him rubs me the wrong way

I'm sure he has an attorney who has advised him to keep his mouth shut.
