August 12, 201412 yr I believe that, in this order, Tony Stewart did the following: 1. He purposely drifted toward Ward. 2. He wanted to intimidate him, not hit him. 3. He wasn't concerned that he MIGHT hit Ward. 4. He wasn't all that concerned that he DID hit Ward. 5. He certainly didn't mean to kill Ward. 6. He is scared (and rightfully so) that he will be (and IMHO should be) facing manslaughter charges.
August 12, 201412 yr I just watched the video a few times and it looks like to me Stewart was on a higher line than the car in front of him. It could easily be a combination of that higher line and Ward stepping too far down. Not saying whose at fault, just responding to how it's possible the car in front avoided him and Stewart didn't. I have watched it a few times too and I also believe he was a little higher, but if he is it isn't a ton higher. I was thinking my initial opinion that he tried to scare him may have played a role in that belief so I didn't say it. Saw another article today from a driver that had passed the scene and he said he saw him clearly: Driver on Tony Stewart Crash That Killed Kevin Ward: 'It Didn't Seem Real' - NBC News “I seen Kevin clear as day. Nobody else ran into him, either.”

The sheriff state Tony was very upset and fully cooperative. I also seen the quote Tony was distraught. So not sure it was business as usual.

However, none can be proved and Stewart will walk away with maybe a million less dollars.

Two cars past ward when he was clear enough of his car to be hit. One was way low on the track and the other was the car in front of Stewart, who it appears came close to hitting Ward. Add in it was Stewarts car that Ward was looking to get in front of.

I don't think he was in the same line as the car in front of him, that's what others have stated. I think he was higher on the track for a reason... He was trying to make a point. Not trying to run him over, but just being Tony Stewart.

August 12, 201412 yr Author Your comparisons don't work. Gordon has a positive test (evidence) to support the alleged mistake (smoking weed). There's no evidence to support TS was even mad at this point. So Stewart wrecked the kid then he hit the kid with his car and it's a pure coincidence?

The kid walked into the middle of the track directly at Stewart's car. I don't know what was going through Stewart's head or what he meant to do. I don't see how anyone can claim with certainty that they do.
