I'd almost guarantee they use them less and have less. They have less people and probably less gun violence. The fact remains that they do not sacrifice their police officers safety out of fear of looking mean, or "militarized". These units aren't roaming the streets of the United States on a normal day. They're responding to major events, shootings, and higher risk warrants.

 

My argument is and always will be that it should not be about what they have, it's how they use it.

The U.K.'s population is 90 percent white. If you compare crime rates among white citizens or by income levels, the gap between the U.S. and U.K.'s crime rates shrinks dramatically.

True libertarians have very little in common with liberals and I cringe every time that I read a post that claims otherwise. Individual liberty and economic freedom lie at the heart of libertarianism and the massive government for which liberals pine is antithetical to both of those core beliefs of the true libertarian.

 

I've made quite a few posts on here about the definition of a classic liberal (libertarian) and the modern liberal democrat and the huge differences. So I agree. But there still are similarties such as social liberty issues both agree upon and that is what I was discussing.

Since I now live in an area where a lot of Ft. Knox soldiers live, I will say it must be a DC thing. I see soldiers every day dressed in cammo. They're shopping in E-town, getting gas in towns such as Irvington, Hawesville, Hardinsburg, Brandenburg. They're eating at McDonalds and such. Maybe the reason in DC is the heightened possibility of an attack by a terrorist (domestic or foreign). Apparently those wackos haven't zoned in on Podunk, KY.

No longer safe. They wear civilian clothes to and from the bases. For the most part, they only wear their uniforms if they are traveling between bases or to and from the Pentagon. It may be different for Soldiers assigned to bases in more rural parts of the country.

 

If they were fully armed like the ones I've seen in Europe they would be safe.

I work on base and previously worked for the military in leased office space in Arlington, VA. In both locations, most Soldiers changed into their uniforms after they arrived at work. You will see very few members of the military on the Washington Metro or on the streets of DC., although they do generally wear their uniforms when they eat lunch near the base.

 

I doubt that my experience here is much different than it would be at other military installations near large cities. Elizabethtown is not what I consider a large city. It's not just the wackos, it is also the large number of people with a strong anti-military sentiments in areas like this.

Is it going to get to the point of only black cops can arrest black suspects?

 

Will white cops even pull over black suspects for fear of racist motives and being sued for harassment?

 

Will cops turn a blind eye to crime if its the opposite race for fear of being reprimanded for racism?

The problem with that logic is many times (such as this Ferguson incident) it could be too late to ignore. The problem is that if the reports are true and the cop was being attacked, to ignore it could have resulted in the cops death.

Soldiers are not even partially armed on their commutes and they are not allowed to carry weapons on base.

The problem with that logic is many times (such as this Ferguson incident) it could be too late to ignore. The problem is that if the reports are true and the cop was being attacked, to ignore it could have resulted in the cops death.

 

Never too late. All a white cop has to do now in his mind is ignore all black crime or black suspects. This protects him from a lawsuit of harrasment or racial injustice. Or in this case, what is going on right now.

And it will protect them from being found guilty to appease others.
