August 20, 201412 yr This is a violent America we live in guys. The whole world seems like it's lost it's mind. I'd love for this world to be like old days in Mayberry. But today's criminals aren't Otis heading to his jail cell on his own, and Thus their are no Andy Griffins left patrolling with a stern lecture and no sidearm. I 100% agree with you
August 20, 201412 yr You really are a simple mind that only understands how to attack people. I will be civil to obey rules here. I went out of my way not to make any posts personal before you called me out earlier. Out of all the posts in this thread you really found mine to be the most inflammatory to call out . It's pretty obvious this is tension built up from a topic that happen months ago and I would figure a grown man would be mature than that. If you want specifics local police departments shouldn't be riding in military vehicles against civilians because it's direct violation of the constitution. If people are being violent and cause harm pursue with agression and sub due. But LE should be able to distinguish between violent and non-violent protesters. It shouldn't be handled in a manner of everyone is guilty until we prove them innocent. Listen I feel I have a unique perspective regardless of what you think. I grew up in Covington which is most urban area of NKY . But I was lucky enough to move on get a good good education and career. That career has taken me to both Detroit and Cleveland. Two of the most racially diverse but struggling communities in the country. I have been able to reach a level a success but still interact in communities outside of small communities in a Kentucky. So I feel I understand through friends and family in these different communities the mindset of a lot of people. You can continue to stick your head in the sand and not take any constructive criticism but my comments don't come from a position of hatred but a position like any opinion I have and that is to see a better America. My opinion is becoming the majority in this country because a large % of this country is sharply turning libertarian. So you can continue to put up the shield and deny any fault in LE leadership or you can open up and at least be civil to the idea a majority of your peers disagree with you. Even if you don't agree it seems a reasonable person in your field of work would want to understand why the citizens are moving in that direction. Don't flatter yourself cause I have no clue what topic you're talking about so it clearly meant more to you than me... As far as all the rambling in the last paragraph...do you have anything to back up that libertarians are the majority now? This is the first I've heard of this. What fault do you want me to place on LE leadership? Who specifically do you blame? I don't feel you are in the majority. Literally every day, I see at least once someone shake the hand of a officer, deputy or trooper and tell them thank you for what they do. In your social circle you may feel like you're in the majority, but I'm going to have to disagree with your "statistics". So, with that being said, I'll continue to feel like the majority of the population are law abiding citizens that appreciate police being there "just in case"... Later tater, I'm out :thumb:
August 20, 201412 yr I 100% agree with you Alert the media, we've reached some common ground! They'll probably try and turn us against one another though.
August 20, 201412 yr I share your fears on police looking like the military. That is why I fear restrictive laws on a citizens gun ownership even more. If any anything a law abiding citizen should be able to own any weapon a local LE can . I truly believe the second along with the first ammendment as I stated truly defines a free society. For a man can not truly be free if he can't speak his mind and defend his self and property. They can!
August 20, 201412 yr So you agree that criminals won't obey gun laws. Do you then agree that gun laws only disarm the law abiding citizen? Not necessarily, it would depend on the type of law. I've never seen a law proposed that would disarm anyone. And I haven't proposed anything.
August 20, 201412 yr I share your fears on police looking like the military. That is why I fear restrictive laws on a citizens gun ownership even more. But this is my quandary. Countries that have fewer guns also seem not to have these sorts of tactics employed. That seems exactly backwards from what many argue the Second Amendment was intended to do.

Later tater, I'm out :thumb: I would be one of the people who shake the hand of LE and thank them for their work . I don't take lightly what you do or any other person in LE takes when it comes to risk. I stated in this very thread I have friends and family in LE. Where you find anger is in any sort of constructive criticism toward LE , when my criticism doesn't come from anger but flaws I feel can be fixed. The sense of infallibility is confusing. . If you can't see the rise in the libertarian ranks of the republican party that blends with modern liberal of Democrat party my man then you are letting the world pass you by. Every republican around my age which is early to mid 30s that I know at least leans much more classic libertarian than the party did even a decade ago. Take a poll of Republicans under the age of 40 on the war on drugs and I think you will be surprised.
August 20, 201412 yr They can! You see how that blends with my fear of restrictive gun laws correct ? This isn't true in all cities.
August 20, 201412 yr But this is my quandary. Countries that have fewer guns also seem not to have these sorts of tactics employed. That seems exactly backwards from what many argue the Second Amendment was intended to do. I disagree because the very countries you use as examples have extensive history of abusing citizens freedoms with the intent you are declaring , and that is saftey. You can't be free if you don't have the ability to defend yourself against a oppressive government . Without that ability you can never be free.

I do find it ironic that in the land of the free you can be charged with resisting arrest as a stand alone offense. Logic would say a reason for said arrest would come first... :idunno:

Logic would say a reason for said arrest would come first... :idunno: I didn't say we were perfect. I don't disagree that it doesn't raise my eyebrows either. I just think it's safe to say we are by far the best example of freedom. But we are also a land of hypocrites because most people don't understand freedom. People will complain about what you stated but support a law like Obama care and not realize both equally obstruct freedom.
August 20, 201412 yr But this is my quandary. Countries that have fewer guns also seem not to have these sorts of tactics employed. That seems exactly backwards from what many argue the Second Amendment was intended to do. Not necessarily. I saw a post on Reddit a few days ago that had several photos of police around the world responding to dangerous situations (shootings, riots, etc). Many around the world use very similar weapons and armored vehicles when compared to what the police in the United States use. I'll post some photos and the link to the post. August 20, 201412 yr ^ I saw that too. I wasn't in r/gunporn though. :lol2: I wasn't either. Had to search for it and that's where I found it. My point is, the police in the US aren't much different than police agencies throughout the world.

I wouldn't agree without more information, like how many of those specialized teams are there and how often are those types of forces deployed and in what instances?
