He could still be right. Those two teams could be abnormalities from the norm in how good they both were that year. It may have been that the losing team on that particular day could have won a title against the champion from many other years.

 

Wouldn't be the first time we've seen that.

Pikeville has 2 or 3 teams that deserve to be in the discussion. The Panthers had to deal with that Beechwood buzzsaw a lot of years in the Semi-Finals.

 

The Harrodsburg teams mentioned definitely deserve distinction.

Harrodsburg's teams from 93-97. Not to mention some in the 70's that some say were just as good, if not better, especially in the backfield.

 

Harrodsburg from '74 to '77 were very good. Bo Yeast, Henry Parks, Venus Meaux, Nicky Yeast, et al.

They play ten times, Beechwood wins 7. Complacency on BW's part, it happens.

 

Cards take it and had to use a back up QB for a large part of the game. I think that Cards team wins 8 of 10. The Bw QB that day had as good a day as any in a state title. That kid was amazing from start to end

I will go with Beechwood 2011. That team was blowing everyone out and averaging 50 points a game coming into the battle versus Mayfield, and was winning the Mayfield game at Mayfield when the QB got injured. Very ironic that injuries in that game kept two great teams from winning a state title.

Hazard isn't a team that gets talked about much on here.But if they lost then everyone would say they weren't deserving.

I'm not saying any of the teams mentioned are wrong but there is one team that has not been mentioned that I think would be a very strong candidate.
