Exactly. A 1A team beating Highlands and beating Beechwood 44-6. Those two scores say to me it had to certainly be before 1990. If you look at the scores, it is likely either New Cath or Dayton. Has Dayton ever beat Highlands?

Complacency or your stud player being injured. There should never be any excuses for losing games. You win some and you lose some. That's the beauty of sports. Accept what ever comes to you and get ready to play the next game.

Newport Catholic went to Class 1A for the first time in 1991 and remained so until the move to six classes in 2007, which saw them bump up to 2A.

Nicki Yeast was a Junior on that team but if memory serves he broke his leg early in the season and missed most of it.

Different year you are thinking about. 1976 team, Nick was a sophomore. 1976 was the year that they were undefeated and lost to Heath in the semi-finals by 2 on the old "inadvertent" whistle that allowed Heath to score the win.
