She has preferred to wait and see, not wanting to upset the natural gas pipeline apple cart. She also seems to enjoy watching Britain and America squirm a little bit, though I guess I can't blame her for that. After all the spy stuff that's been going around in Germany, if I were in her shoes, I'd want to make the US government squirm a bit too.

I'm admittedly not as up-to-date on the whole Russia/Ukraine conflict as I should be - particularly how the world at large has been addressing it or how they stand politically.

But as far as what Putin said, I don't care what Putin says, if they are loyal to him and or Russia he IS responsible. I am happy to see we got this far into the thread and no one has make this a political issue by using as a reason to slam certain US politicians. But having said that, what should we do? Beyond harsh words? Do we really want to start WW3? Putin knows we don't want to do that so he is capable of doing anything just short of creating WW3. I see heavier sanctions coming very soon, I am not sure what else we can do. And Europe is in a bad spot, if they do too much then Russia turns off the energy supply, and since Europe isn't exactly at the equator, they can't afford to have Putin cut off the supply. I have said last year during the start of the crisis in Ukraine, Putin is an odd character, Remember, two years ago, he stopped U.S. adoptions from Russia as retaliations for travel and financial restrictions on human rights abusers in Russia by the US. They have a bit of a history shooting down passenger planes. I am not sure where to go on this, good point of the psychological fear, did they do it on purpose? Thinking it would be safe to shoot down a plane from a small SE Asian nation? As the more I think about it, someone with a SAM would either have to be an idiot or blind not to see the difference between a military and a passenger plane, unless orders were sent down. But sent down on purpose or mistake?

July 17, 201412 yr Author Plane was 30 miles from Russian border but was within range of Russian AA Missles, so it could have been them. I lean towards it being the separatist using Russian AA.

July 17, 201412 yr It was separatist - which is the same thing as Russians. The equipment that shot this down isn't something any idiot can use to shoot down planes.
