I wonder if the world takes action against Putin?

They will condemn him but that's about it, maybe sanctions. The world is lucky this wasn't a Russian foe they shot down.

We're about the only country who can take down the Red Army. Obama will blast him tonight I can guarantee you.

If it is determined that this was an official directive from Putin or any of his high ranking officials, then it's time to deal with Putin. Shooting down 300 innocent people is a cry for attention and a hunger for power. Obama has to be getting very close to exercising more than harsh words.

No way it goes past words and or sanctions. We're already living in the Cold War Part II.

Already being labeled as "terrorist" shot it down with Russian equipment. Sad but that will be the cop out, when I bet anyone on here 100 bucks, Russia thought it was a Ukraine military plane.

With our current leadership, I doubt it goes past words as well. But it is very close to getting to the point where it's going to have to be more than words, whether we like it or not.

23 Americans on board.. Unconfirmed but rumored.

Putin supposedly says that they don't know who the separatist loyal to Russia are and they have no control over them. If you believe that I've got some Lake Cumberland Bottom Land I'll sell you!

You paying attention yet, Mrs. Merkel?

Sad! But if it was Russia, and I go along with John Anthony in saying Russia may have thought it was a Ukrainian military plane. But as far as what Putin said, I don't care what Putin says, if they are loyal to him and or Russia he IS responsible.

I am happy to see we got this far into the thread and no one has make this a political issue by using as a reason to slam certain US politicians. But having said that, what should we do? Beyond harsh words? Do we really want to start WW3? Putin knows we don't want to do that so he is capable of doing anything just short of creating WW3. I see heavier sanctions coming very soon, I am not sure what else we can do. And Europe is in a bad spot, if they do too much then Russia turns off the energy supply, and since Europe isn't exactly at the equator, they can't afford to have Putin cut off the supply.

I have said last year during the start of the crisis in Ukraine, Putin is an odd character, Remember, two years ago, he stopped U.S. adoptions from Russia as retaliations for travel and financial restrictions on human rights abusers in Russia by the US. So he makes the kids suffer? You can't find too many people as cold hearted as Putin. We have to be careful of what we do, but the sad thing is he knows it.
