I can promise one thing , nobody is going to outwork Hagen. His dedication to improving his game is unmatched. Proof that if you work hard and do things the right way good things will happen. IMO there's not a better player in the state, period. If he played at a bigger school that got better exposure he would be a frontrunner for Mr. BASKETBALL. I still think he has a chance to be in the running next season. How he was left off the All State team last season is beyond me. And it's almost laughable he didn't make the Ky Jr All Star team.

Can't base anything off the JR All Star tryout... Team was already selected (nobody really want to believe that). 1 or 2 guys played their way on the team but real team players are missing from that team.

Disagree. His school doesn't hurt his exposure. Boyle played against great teams last season at Mercer County and Montgomery County in the holiday tournaments. He also had his best game of the year against Lafayette at Boyle. I think the uptick in his name recognition is his switch to Hoop Dreams from the Louisville Magic and BGP. Brent Bach went to Augusta but everybody knew who he was because of BGP and summer ball. Funny, he switched from the Magic to Hoop Dreams also.

 

If I am not mistaken Boyle will possibly be playing in the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic this upcoming year. A good showing there and he'll get even more recognition.

Do you know what EVERY kid in the state does in their free time? If not, how can you say this kid works harder than any other kid in the state?

NKY basketball, 9th region, is weak. Don't believe me, ask the local recruiters and see if they can give you a straight answer without beating around the bush. You could say I've got an "inside" on this matter. The local players who have been mentioned in this thread are good for this area and will have successful high school careers. By far, Ruthsatz was by best point in the area and he ended up D2. There's nothing wrong with that, its a great accomplishment, but the hype given to some of the kids is over the top. You would think any top 10 from any state would receive a D1 scholarship, but on average only 7 kids from Ky will receive a D1 scholarship. I don't know if Ky's top 10 are as good as advertised?

 

I can't speak directly to the quality of N KY basketball, but I will say that it's highly likely that 10 or more in this class will have the opportunity to play D1. Same can be said of the 2016 class. Those are 2 talented and deep classes.

Of course your going to go back to your NKY players . I stick to my comment. There may be players work as hard as Hagen but not harder . U mention the kid from Ryle. That's one game. Can he do it night in and night out?? I'm not knocking any other kids work ethic but I know how hard Hagen has worked at his game. He has went from a virtually unknown player outside of central ky to a top 5 player in the state. There's your true success story. I just like seeing kids getting rewarded for their hard work and dedication, whether it be Hagen or anybody else.

That's true but they don't play in the LIT or King of the Bluegrass. I haven't heard anything about Boyle playing in Republic Bank Classic. I hope they do. Would be a great tournament for Boyles players to get exposure. Not just Hagen but Colton Elkins also . I completely agree about the switch from the Magic to Hoop Dreams. Magic was just not the right fit for him. First weekend he plays for Hoop Dreams he gets D1 offers. Hoop Dreams is IMO the best AAU program in the state. I know there is alot of colleges that will be following Hagen during July. If he keeps playing like he has been don't be surprised if some High Major colleges enter the picture

Yes footstomp 9th region is weak. That is why our 9th region kids continue to come south and do very very well. CCH with a State Tournament, NCC with an All-A State Tournament over a very good Cordia team that had players from all over the country. While Ruthsatz did end up going D2 which I agree is awesome, if he was as tall as the All-Star game had him there was no doubt he would have ended up D1 somewhere.

 

Clyde mentioned some very good players above that are all either going D1 or have offers on the table. And as someone mentioned there are already a few boys from the 2016/2017 class that are being talked about.

 

Before someone takes this as me knocking another player from around the state, I am not. I believe we are all very fortunate in the state of KY to have many many student athletes (boys/girls) that do very well when moving on to college.
