Good point. I have him in my top 10 players in the class list but completely forgot about him when doing the top returners in the 11th. He's definitely on the list with those two, as is Tanner Johnson. I'll still probably give the edge to Tisdale overall if I had to pick one to start a team with though.

Love Rose tenacity at both ends.

 

Tisdale is really quick with the ball in his hands and has a nice outside shot. Looking forward to seeing him against Bolden next season in the opening game of the year.

True. Most of what you are saying is pretty consistent with what I hear about most from people familiar with the 11th and from what I've observed myself.

 

 

Tisdale will be interesting to watch since he'll be having to fully take the reigns with Jordan Green out, but his supporting cast on the whole will probably be stronger.

 

Henry Clay had so many losses last season, primarily of kids that they'd probably expected to be there like Grundy, Cunningham, and Ware, that it forced a lot of younger kids to be thrust into roles they weren't really ready for, at least initially.

 

You saw a lot of improvement in Henry Clay over the season and it will be fun to see them and Dunbar do battle next season for the informal "City School" (read: publics) champs.

 

 

Am hearing that Lexington Christian Academy may be even better than some have expected. If so, all I can say is wow! and I'll leave it at that. Rose should have a great year either way, and his supporting cast of Drew Trimble, Trevor Hill, and Michael Young will all be a year older and wiser, and you should probably see lots of improvement from them. Tre' King is another big kid they have who is one of the hottest names in the 11th as far as kids coming up. He was only a freshman last season, but should start to emerge as a real threat next year. From what I understand, he spent most of last season as the centerpiece of their JV team. LCA and NCC will again be contenders for the All A State, but I'd imagine that if they meet up, it will be much closer this time.

 

 

I'm intrigued by Scott County's offseason as well. It's been awhile since they haven't had a transfer come in during the offseason, and with only Hines Jones and Tay Guyn returning, you'd think that it wouldn't be a shock to see some new faces there come August.

 

I guess time will tell.

I think Matt Rose will be the best player in the 11th Region this year. I believe he was fifth in voting last year behind Davis, Gilbert, Green and Boggess (all Seniors). Very efficient scorer who never seems to take a bad shot. About 53% from field, 40% from 3PT and 80% from the line last year. He has had to battle injuries this spring during the EYBL season, but seems to be well now. I saw a tweet where he scored 45 against Bourbon County last week (shooting 7 for 9 from 3PT). I'll say again that I think Rose might be more of a victim of all the hype that he received as a freshman as anything else. Some polls had him as high as the 5th or 6th best kid in the 2015 class back in 2012 (link: Louisville Courier Journal and the rankings of one of the best in the business Jody Demling), and I think that he was hurt by that hype because some other kids like Bolden, Sutton, Perry, etc. catching up to him. Make no mistake though, he can play and like Demling's analysis said, do a bit of everything.

 

Lefty, fundamentally sound, nice form on his shot (and doesn't need a ton of room or time to get it off... he'll make it on people), good runner/floater when he gets inside and shows the ability to get all the way to the rim and finish with his left at the high school level. He'll use his body well enough to back smaller defenders down and gets where he wants to go, usually spinning left and going up with his left. Shows good court awareness and ability to cut and play off the ball. Has some ups that will catch people off guard too; not a great vertical leaper, but he gets off the ground quick and challenge or even block shots (at this level) without fouling.

 

If he improves on upper body strength, going to his right, finishing with his right hand, and lateral quickness, he's really going to top off his skill set and be a far more complete player.

Jeremiah Tisdale is very quick with the ball. He can really create separation with his cross-over dribble. He gets to the basket and jumps very well. Nice player.

 

I am not yet willing to compliment his shooting. He shot less than 25% from the 3 point line last season and a woeful 57% from the charity stripe. With a lot of repetition and better technique, he could greatly improve his poor shooting. With improved shooting, he could be an outstanding college prospect.
