I have an idea, if we can get rid of white guys and get rid of guns, this country will be back on top.

I read it and still say its not like that in this time.

 

If you dress nice, act nice, have manners, work hard, be polite, on time, good personality. Then you will earn stuff. Its not a privilige to have these, its a choice.

If you want to have a chip on your shoulder and feel angry that you arent what others are and act that way. Then no, you wont make it long. Hopefully Rutgers will see this and act accordingly.

I couldn't care less whether not you agree with what happens in the every day life of a minority. I'm telling you from personal experience, EVERY DAY, that it happens to somebody.

It didnt give me a leg up on anything. If anything it has made me a target of MINORITIES.

This isnt the case in times we live in today.

Well for starters, I am bi-racial, half black and half white... So having an agenda against either race is a remarkably delusional idea in my case...

 

If you are offended by what she said, maybe that will give you a glimpse into the every day life of a minority. I don't steal, do or deal drugs, shoot people, rob people or eat fried chicken all the time. Those are only some of the stereotypes attached to African Americans. Do I let them bother me? Absolutely not, because I know I don't fit the bill.

 

One professor isn't going to cure or worsen racism. This topic is a double edged sword, and many people are only concerned with it when they are the target. Racism is alive and well in this country with whites, blacks, Hispanics and every other demographic that resides in our country. That's the facts. I don't think every white dude in America is a serial killer, I know better than that. Just like I know every black dude isn't a thug. If you know you don't fit the stereotype, then I encourage you to let it roll off your back as much as possible.

 

Pretty good post right here. While I do see mt refs point at the end of the day who really gives a flip what this woman thinks. I'm white and at least today have no plans of shooting up a mall but who knows the day is still young.

In demographics, yes. In positions of power in the country (i.e., business, education, politics), white males are an overwhelming majority. What will be interesting to see in the future is whether the changing demographics of the country will be mirrored in other positions of power.

She is an embarrassment to Rutgers, or at least she should be and any other program that would hire her. She is completely un-analytical, only assumptive and inflammatory. These are not traits I would value in an educator or a worker or problem solver in any venue. What is she supposed to be teaching? Maybe there are parts of the premise that need to be explored...there is no doubt that there is some underlying reason for these mass killings (or venting of frustration), but throwing more pyschological garbage against the wall is not likely to have a beneficial effect whatsoever.

 

Using her logic, she should have figured out the reason that white kids and asians are killing people because the Blacks and the Mexicans won't let them in their gangs. :ohbrother:

You ever worry about being pulled over at random for driving in the wrong neighborhood or driving the wrong kind of car? I know I sure don't. I have friends who do, however.

 

You ever warn any of your friends about towns like Corbin? I know I do.

 

You ever have people come up to you and berate you for daring to allow a black person to sit in the front seat of your car while a white person sat in the back? I have.

 

You ever been in a car when a black friend was driving and you had to smooth things over with the cops because they decided your friend shouldn't be driving in that neighborhood or some other random garbage? Yep, done that too.

I have brought this up before, that white males have advantages from the get-go that minorities do not.

AllTell brings up the issue of sexism. I think it's a legitimate issue that leads to a lot of the disparities. I could recount incident after incident that I have witnessed or been subjected to, but for many of you, you'd just consider me a bitter man-hater.

 

I look at my career and my life, and compare to the careers and paths of others I've known along the way. In some cases, I have benefitted from being white "white privilege). In others, I have been discriminated against because of my gender.

 

I think it's odd we haven't discussed the issue that the shooter himself laid out as the reason he did this: women didn't sleep with him. Why aren't we discussing the fact that men (in general) seem to feel that women are for their pleasure? Why aren't we talking about the fact that even though this is an extreme example, that everyday there are women who are abused because men feel they "own" or should control women?

The awful truth is that if you are not successful in this country, then it is your own fault. There are too many cases of African-Americans, black Africans, women, Cubans, (insert the name of your favorite minority here) rising from extreme poverty to become wildly successful to make the case that anybody suffers much from so-called "white privilege."

 

If a black man like Dr. Thomas Sowell, who grew up without a father in Harlem in extreme poverty, dropped out of high school at age 17 from an all black high school can rise to the top of his profession, then there is no excuse for anybody to fail in this country who has the raw ability to succeed.

 

When boat people from Vietnam and Cuba, and modern day African immigrants who reach our shores without being able to speak English can become wildly successful, then there is no excuse for anybody who was born an American citizen not to become successful.
