Went back and read it again. Closer than the first time. I can see where you got that impression.

Really what? Point was very clear. Claiming that young white guys did some mass shootings isn't racist. They did. Her debate seemed to center around privilege. Unless she's claiming that all young white guys are privileged I don't see the "racist" angle.

How the HELL can we get rid of racism when we have a professor who is fitting stuff into her racist agenda and spreading hate. This stuff dont create dialogue, it just causes resentment from those who are not like that and those white people who dont feel the WHITE PRIVILEGE. I have never got anything given to me because I am white. She is talking about me because Yes, I am white and I am not like that. But her students who have her will get the impression yeh, white people are all like that.

I wouldn't be too hard on ole MR there Deuce. I didn't now what to expect before reading the article. After reading it...I have to agree that she is pretty much broad stroking most if not all white men. Not calling them all mass killers, but lumping them all in under this "white privilege" theory of hers. From the article:

Seems to me she is lumping a lot of us together, since I am white, male and middle classed, I evidently fall under this "rage" she is discussing.

 

Personally I don't know if she actually believes what she's spewing or not. Could be she's just out to make a name for herself and score some points on the ultra liberal front and came up with this "white privilege/rage" thing.

White people in the United States benefit from certain economic and social benefits, much of which is descended from the institutional racism that was absolutely ingrained into this country from its founding. Now, much of that institutional racism is gone, but its effects are still very much alive in the social and economic structure of this country. A lot of the academics that are really into this theory take it way too far, but I don't think it's possible to look around this country in 2014 and not see the vestiges of 200 years of institutional racism.
