Impossible to predict what my Jags will do this year. They are gonna be young but smart, stingy on defense but playing their usual tough schedule. Only one game could be considered a sure thing (if those exist in HS football).

 

Eager to see who is at QB when the smoke clears and if Cordell-Armstrong can come back from that ugly break (leg) with strength and confidence.

 

Optimistically, 7-3.

 

Who are the Jags?

For GRC I have no clue. We have won only 3 games in the last 2 years. Coach Collins was fired a few weeks ago and a new coach has not been hired yet. Some former assistants, did the spring practices and game. Not sure if we will see much of a improvement this season till we know who the new coach is.....and it is past late on hiring a new one. JMO.

Have there been any names even mentioned for this job?Why is it taking so long to name a new coach?

I will take a stab once I see Beechwood's complete schedule. Anyone? I do guarantee they will win their intra-squad scrimmage.

Time frame about right. Coach Collins was fired on March 27th. You post it for a month, then have interviews. They were hoping to have one in place by May 15th and should make that deadline.

Exactly. I would think any team would take a State Championship with a .500 regular season. Even SK.

 

It's all about how you prepare throughout the season that wins you that title. I don't care what you say, tough competition breads winning later. Play an inferior schedule and see what that gets you. See many NKY teams before.

I'm going to predict Belfry will go 7-3 with this schedule. I think they lose to Johnson Central on the road. I also think they will be underdogs against Henry Clay, Harlan County and Christian Academy of Knoxville. Since all three of these are at CAM Stadium, I say they will pull out a win against 1 of the three.

 

They should be favorites in the rest of them, however Southwestern gave Belfry fits last year and they have to play Gallia Academy OH on the road, so those are definitely not gimmies.

 

I am going 8-2... best case 10-0...worst case 7-3

 

Think they lose to JC on the road in a close game

 

Think they beat Harlan County (I view Belfry entering that one favored)

 

CAK and Henry Clay are toss-ups. CAK will return a ton and ended up being one of the Top 5 teams in Tennessee 3A last year. My guess is they are a Top team this year. Henry Clay's athleticis will be a tough matchup for Belfry to open the season. I will take a split between these two.

 

Worst case I see Belfry losing to CAK, Henry Clay, and JC..

CovCath 8-2, and I'm not sure they'll have a game within 7 points in any of the 10 games. Only one I could see being close is the (predicted) win over Dixie.

I'd prefer to forget that state title game (for obvious reasons). Danville football has never been the same since that loss IMO and neither was Sam Harp.

 

Speaking of Danville, it'll be interesting to see how they do in the second year of the Clevenger era. The game to look forward to is August 29th when Danville faces Jerry Perry's Garrard County team. I'll go out on a limb and say Danville wins the district and makes a serious run at the state semis. Regular season record is probably going to be something like 7-3.
