Does it say something about the district when the Asst. Super post on the listserve asking for teams for a tournament their hosting. Isnt that normally a coach or AD's job? Just saying.

I'm guessing there might not be anyone left to ask teams to play in their tournament. Kevin Letcher (a good guy/assistant AD)) is leaving the school system. I'm not sure who the other assistant AD is, or what current AD Gene Heffington is doing so I'm guessing Phil is next in line.

 

The turnover in this school system is rather high.

Holland can coach no doubt, but his ego precedes his accomplishments.

 

Sounds like a little jealousy. Any coach has a little bit of ego; it's what makes them so good. I have known Jason for a long time, both on and off the court. He is a great friend and I don't understand the cheap shot.

Oooh, I hope so. He's the coach Montgomery County deserves right now.

I was joking.........the first "real" name that came to mind when "big name that moves" was a guy that is coaching girls right now in a city that starts with "Louis".......but have no idea.

Simply unbelievable.

The news this week that Jason Holland, the head basketball coach at Montgomery County was stepping down, is the latest shocker in a program that would seem to be above that level.

Holland announced his resignation Monday which means the Tribe will have their fifth coach in as many seasons for the 2014-15 campaign.

Keith Greisser, Tony Wise, Happy Osborne, Jason Holland and a coach to be named later.

Montgomery County Assistant Superintendent and former Athletic Director Phil Rison said Monday the job was posted immediately and the process would be under way quickly to find a successor.

“I have a daughter in junior high school and a young son and I’m going to have a chance to watch them play and be more involved in them growing up,” Holland said, stating that he plans to remain in the system.

“I’m at the time in my life where I can watch her play and maybe get a chance to coach him at a young age and still come back and continue my career.”

Holland said he had known for about a week that this would be happening but delayed the announcement until after the banquet was held this past Sunday.

He said he felt like a banquet was “the end of the journey” for a team and that this team deserved to have all of the focus on them and the season they experienced rather than speculation about him.

The Indians, in Holland’s only season, compiled a 29-3 record, the best season in terms of winning percentage in a half century.

Could it be Kevin Spurloch? Been at Several schools such as Clay County and PCC. Had applied at Pendleton but withdrew his name before interviews.

spurlock would be a great fit for the current superintendent, not sure about his ego, but know first hand he'll support transfers moving into the community.

Where is Kevin Letcher going?
