Bigger picture: since the new superintendent was hired there has been a new coach every year.

There has been LOTS of turnover with teachers as well. I believe a friend told me that every school administrator (principals and assistant principals) has been replaced in this same time frame.

 

I'm not saying it is right or wrong... But anyone who did their research knew that Mr. Powell's typical procedure is to come in and run lots of people off.

 

This!^^^^^^^ The whole "money guy" and all of the other theories are misguided IMO. Look what's gone on at MoCo since the new sheriff came to town - admin, coaches and teachers. I'm not sure that this should be a hot topic as it is standard procedure there now. What will make for interesting dialogue is if in October of 2015 MoCo has the same coach that they do in Oct of 2014.

Is everyone completely sure that he was forced out for some reason because when the class goes, the coach goes. Coach Starns and others can say all they want but if he had Burns and Steward back and if Holland had a couple of starters back they would be back, getting so tired of this one and done coaching.

 

I am completely sure that Holland was forced out, I wouldn't get too tired of something until I knew the whole story.

First, the "money guy" is not misguided...and yes the culture is much different at moco, then 10 years ago. Empowering certain parents began 2 years ago, this guy is just taking his turn.

I think that pretty much says what I have been saying. If Wallace and Jones had another year he'd be MoCo's Coach next year. I guarantee where he goes either has an up and coming good freshman,soph class or a senior-laden group with talent. The only school that has unlimited talent down to their kindergarten class Is Mason County so O Hearn will never leave unless he's ousted.

The returning team at Moco had nothing to do with Holland leaving..

I know Holland a little bit....."acquaintance" not "friend".....have not talked to him since all of this went down. But I can guarantee you he had no intentions of being a one and done coach at MC. He left a pretty good thing at Oldham. He is not a "hit and run" coach. I have no idea what happened at MC, but will say that he was not the sole decision maker in this departure.

If I were a coach seeking a head coaching job, I would be very skeptical about applying at Montgomery County. I witnessed Jason Holland while coaching at Henry Co., 2-3 hours prior to playing, mopping the floor by hand. I'm not sure what else a coach can do... He reaches out to the communities and support his program by hosting tournaments, classics, and team camps in the summer. Each event brings money into the community.

At each of his stops as a head coach he's developed his own players in the feeder program and been very successful. Administration and money i the community must want things done differently.

They want someone to come in and go get players year end and year out! Holland is to good to do that! Win with what you have!!

The current culture is just that, win at all costs.

Holland would have taken what he has and

If Happy isn't the guy, not sure that letting Holland go was a good call by the AD. The next hire will tell us volumes about the situation at MoCo.

The AD has zero say in that. All the Super...look at his track record at previous schools. He is a train wreck and leaves carnage wherever he has been. This pertains to not only coaching but with teachers/administrators as well. No one in the right mind would work there.
