Science Friction
No doubt we have had an athiest or agnostic President(maybe multiple ones) who just pretended to the world to be a God-fearing believer. My question is - Could (or will) a publicly devout athiest or agnostic ever become President? I know the polls say that America is becoming less and less religious, but will she ever "Lose Her Religion" enough to elect someone who professes a non-belief philosophy? I consider myself a pretty religious person. That being said, I would have zero issue casting a vote for someone who was either Atheist or Agnostic if their stance on the issues aligned with mine. Getslow
It could (and likely will) happen someday. Right now, I don't think so.

75center
Agreed. It will probably happen at some point, I just don't know how long it would take to get there.

Jumper_Dad
It depends on what type of atheist he or she is... "I don't believe in God and all that do are simpletons" type, not getting elected "I don't believe in God but respect those that have a different view" type, could get elected

Clyde
The atheist/agnostic would have to come out of the D party. No chance he/she could make it through an R primary. I still say it would not happen.
mcpapa
Why not? We elected a foreign-born neighborhood-organizing socialist wealth redistributing Muslim. Twice.
