These type of incidents are getting more and more common,it seems.

It also appears so many time the kid doing this was bullied for a long time.

I have not caught much news the last two days, so I have missed itf this was the case in this one.

I know but these gun nuts on here keep comparing this knife attack to Sandy Hook. When the fact of the matter is no one died; guns are far more dangerous but they won't even answer the question because they know it illustrates how wrong their position is.

 

So, what exactly constitutes a gun nut? I have 3 guns...two pistols and a rifle...unfortunately I don't have NEAR enough ammo for any of them. I will hopefully have my CnC permit soon and plan to carry. If I had the money I would have several more handguns in my collection and plan to add at least one more that is a better option to carry concealed than what I currently own. I definitely believe in and support the 2nd amendment. Not currently an NRA member but that will soon change. Am I a gun nut?

I have guns myself for my personal/home defense but I see no need for 30+ round magazines and think something should be done to keep firearms out of the hands of those with mental illness.

Nope, just really good evidence that when guns aren't present in school attacks they aren't as deadly. That is not what you guys were saying after Sandy Hook and even more reason for some sensible gun restrictions.

I couldn't disagree more with you on this. Anyone that does this premeditated is mentally ill. If these guys had tantrums they would not have the weapons with them. Mental Illness is real and the issue is extremely complex. There are literally hundreds of types and within many of them different actions they take. Some are treatable, some we have no clue.

 

This latest young man seems to have been normal in every way with no prior clues that they can determine as of today. He was a quiet kid but had friends, appeared not to take drugs or alcohol, was not bullied, no arrest or school problems. but something had to be hidden for him to take two kitchen knives and brutally attack the way he did. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary with this kid.

 

Now there are evil people, no doubt, but this kid didn't seem that way.

We'll agree to disagree. I remember when my brother and I got into fights it was pretty brutal at times. The first thing he would do would be to pick up anything and use it to hurt me or anyone that would try to intervene. He's not mentally disturbed. He's a fine adult now. We didn't need to see a psychiatrist after each episode. Not everyone that gets mad and takes it out on someone has a mental problem and I'm not noting the latest attack as my example. I was expressing a personal opinion.
