Doughnut lovers?

If I had to choose a "Mom and Pop" doughnut store it would be the one over at Eagle Lake in lawrenceburg.... Best Doughnuts maybe? I'm not sure that's the name of it, but IMO it should be!

I go there sometimes, as a matter of fact I got a mixed box of various pastries last week and brought into the office. Service is great and the family seems like really nice people, and I will continue to go there. With that said, the doughnuts to me are just ok, nothing to write home about. KK are far superior to anything they make. However, because they are local and have great service, I will continue to go there, and the apple fritter is pretty good.

Two locations. Hebron and Florence. Goid donuts.

RP - I think it is actually called "Top This!"

We tried both of these places on the same day a few days ago. Really liked both of them. Top This! is different, but I liked it. And we got Junior Parker's birthday "cake" from Paradise.

Krispy Kreme is really good when freshly made. There is also a really, really good Amish-run bakery in Manchester. I've not been there in awhile but I assume it's still operating. Very good. Reasonably priced as well.

DDs are all over the place down here. A couple of weeks ago, Mrs. S was babysitting the grandkids over in Apopka. She asked where they wanted to eat lunch. My 4 year old grandson asked, "Can we go to Dunkin' Donuts?"

He asked his other Grandmother for "bakery goods" the other day.

Do you remember "Clovertop" in Corbin back in the seventies and eighties? The locals were as crazy about that place as they are about the Root Beer Stand.

I absolutely do. Loved that place. See post 57 of this thread.

Miller's Bakery, Wheat Ridge, above West Union, Ohio. Fork over $1.99 for what they call THE Doughnut.

They're OK but used to be better a few years ago, IMO. We were just there last weekend, got some oatmeal cookies that were not that good this go round.

I miss the Clover Top Bakery in Corbin. Sigh.

Used to get a sackful of six or seven doughnuts for about buck. Cinnamon twists, caramel, jelly-filled, cake doughnut with chocolate icing, glazed... oh the memories, oh that smell...

Dad says he remembers getting a dozen glazed for about 4 cents each(he's old!)

How about the Krystal Kitchen ? That was another one of my hangouts. Those little burgers, the best ice cream in town, hours and hours of pinball, and Freddie Hart(1971 Easy Lovin') on the jukebox. :)

I'm afraid not. In fact, I don't even remember it. However, I didn't spend much time in town until I was a junior in HS and when I did, it was working (at the Pizza Hut in Trademart) or attending Cumberland in Williamsburg between my junior and senior years.

I lived outside of Rockholds. I didn't get off the farm much, but Mom would bring my sister and I to Corbin when we were younger, sometimes. We always stopped at the Clover Top, the original at 5th and Main, if my memory serves me right. It was always a treat for us. A special memory.

While I am a fan of the place there is zero chance I wait outside. You're tougher than I am.

Now if it was Long's in Indy....maybe.

Best cream horn in the world at Long's maybe best bearclaw too.

Creekside Amish store on the Mason-Fleming border (Route 11) is still the best bang for your buck. Friday and Saturday mornings from 7 to 9 in the morning.

I think I covered that in another thread. I hate all pie except chocolate. :isurrender: Don't hurt me!

Oh my!!! Please tell me you've never tried butterscotch. My granny made an amazing one. Of course, I don't know if I've ever found one I didn't like.

One thing I have have in common with the Rock- I love pie !

Just had a chocolate long john from Miss Shirley's bakery in Alexandria. Excellent.

And you didn't swing by to see me? You could have at least texted me and I would have me you there :sssh:

Yesterday a coworker brought in “Cubs” donuts from Holtman’s (Over the Rhine). Festive AND yummy!
