Doughnut lovers?

Ok, I have a sweet tooth...and I really enjoy a good doughnut and can eat several at one sitting, so I have to try and not be around them too much. Now, usually when it come to "fast food" type establishments, like a McDonalds, Burger King, etc., their products might be ok, but usually something made at home is better, and/or a local mom and pop establishment might make something very tasty as well. I agree most of the time, but a HUGE exception for me is doughnuts. To me, NOTHING beats a good, fresh, hot Krispy Kreme doughnut. Sure they are mass manufactured, but man have they got it down right. They absolutely beat the pants off of Dunkin...and I have yet to find a local/mom and pop establishment that does it better.

So for the doughnut fans out there, what say you?

Krispy Kreme is out of this world good when fresh.

There aren't any locations in NKY, we've looked into what it takes to start a franchise.....All I can say is not happening any time soon! :lol2: Something like $1.5M upfront investment to start one.

If hot, there is no match for Krispy Kreme. Nothing even in the same ball park.

I've heard that there is an amazing Mom & Pop shop for doughnuts in Campbell County, down 27 past the Middle School, on a side street called Kountry Cousins. Or something very close to that. Supposed to be amazing. Place basically closes when its out for the day. I haven't had them yet but heard they are the best.

Country Cousins was the bomb! I say WAS because the head baker left to start her own business. it is located on 27 north of Campbell County Middle School. Shirley's Bakery. I haven't been to Country Cousins since Shirley left; I'm not even sure it's still open as I had heard they were closing.

There's an Amish place just inside the Mason-Fleming County line on Route 11. Best doughnuts on the planet. Think Krispy Kreme on steroids - and 85 cents apiece.

That place was about a mile from where I grew up. Best doughnuts I've ever had, outside of fresh off the press Krispy Kreme's. So so good!

Nord's Bakery in the Germantown neighborhood of Louisville. Best in town.

I do enjoy Krispy Kreme as well. Right down the street from my house... it's an almost daily trial.

There is a place in Lexington call Spaulding's...for a mom and pop, they have very good doughnuts too...different style from a KK, but very good and a good change of pace every once in a while. Still not a KK though.

UKMF, there used to be a KK somewhere there by the Turfway Park exit...I think it's a check cashing place now. Did they just not do any business at that location? They weren't there very long for those of you who remember it.

Not sure, as I never knew about that one. I would think one in this area would make a killing, as Dayton is the closest one there is. Maybe if I hit the lottery some day....:D

Personally, I am not a fan of Krispy Kreme doughnuts but I never was a fan of glazed doughnuts anyway.

Play the Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge and then do us a favor and open a KK!!
