Did I hear/read correctly that Holmes was 3/27 from 3? That's with 2 by Bolden coming in the last minute?

Those numbers were from the stat sheet I was handed. YIKES!!!!!

I was sitting with a fellow Conner grad. We both thought of the exact same thing at the exact same time. Ned Kleier. Ned was our trainer and was infamous for saying "tape it up" on any injury.

You're a generation younger than my dad.

"Rub some dirt on it".

Wrong night to go cold from the field, but it happens to the best of them.

I didn't see or hear the game but sounds like it was a dandy! Congratulations to Cov Cath and I hope you do the 9th region proud down at Rupp!

Give credit to CCH's defense. NewCath's bigs got shut down on Sunday. They shut down Holmes tonight. Very few open looks.

Correct. It's not like CCH sat back in the zone with the the players packed into the lane. They had hands in the face of the shooters in most cases. CVH and Bo did a nice job out top.

Will be interesting to see how the stripes call Nick's play in Rupp. He's borderline on a lot of things he does, but does manage to get away with most. Kid plays hard, just don't think the head exaggeration moves are necessary. Anybody have video of the second block on Nick where he got the call? Would love to see that again. Looked clean from where I was sitting, but could of got him with the body. Those two consecutive blocks by Holmes were impressive (even with one of them getting called for the foul).

That was the long arms of Mr Hill. Nick challenged him twice and Hill was ready and willing to take it on. That was fun to watch.

There were several outstanding blocked shots both ways in this game. The shooting wasn't very good, especially for Holmes, but there was hardly an uncontested shot in the game. The low score should let everyone know how well both teams defended. Both of these teams played hard all night. You can't ask for more from kids. I thought both teams held their cool and played their games, and it was physical. You could just tell during the game that these teams really respect the other.

Great to see CCH going back to Rupp! As well as seeing Nick and his dad on the big stage at Rupp!

That was an entertaining game this evening. These two teams seldom disappoint when they get together. I thought that Cov. Cath.'s 1-2-2 zone was very effective and that the Colonels were not going to allow themselves to beaten by penetration. Holmes is streaky from the perimeter and tonight they were streaky on the wrong side.

3-27 on three's is not going to win you ball games, but despite all of that Holmes was in the thick of it right til the last minute. I thought what cost Holmes was when they had two or three separate stretches where they turned it over a couple of times and one included a moving screen. I thought the turnovers were what ultimately did them in at the end of the game.

Early in the game Cov.Cath. got the Dogs on their heels with crisp passing and shooting, towards the end of the second quarter I thought the Dogs started getting their bearings about them and it carried over into the second half when they turned the heat up and Colonels started playing quicker and the Dogs got the lead. At that point, I think they got a little greedy and started looking for that dagger three to get them rolling but they just couldn't get one to stay down.

Overall, the officials let them play and the one big difference I think in how these officials call the game as opposed to the 9th region officials, is that it is a man's game in the paint, body contact is allowed to the maximum and I think that CCH was able to utilize it in their matchup with NCC and Holmes.

Best of luck to the Colonels in the Sweet 16. I will very surprised if they don't make it to Saturday night and frankly they should.

I could see CCH getting to Saturday at Rupp but I have a hard time seeing them winning on Saturday.

They can win the thing. PRP on Friday, if they both win, will be a good game that could go either way. Let's face it, they beat two top ten teams to win the region.

Would love to see another Championship back in NKY! Good luck to the Colonels.

I forgot to mention this is my previous reply, but props to The Bank of Kentucky Center for the show they provided. I think they learned their lesson over the last couple of years in regards to long lines of people missing game action because of waiting in line to get tickets. There didn't seem to be the complaints of this happening this year as opposed to previous years.

Secondly, the flame throwers was a nice touch and how they had the teams parade around. It had a feel of what you see at the state tournament on championship night. It was quite a show and allowed for the kids to be showcased.

Lastly, in the end, not only promoting the region finals, it also showcased the BOKC in their attempt to become the new home of the girls Sweet 16.

I believe the contract with Diddle Arena and WKU is up in the next year or two. The BOKC will bid for it and I heard Julian Tackett took in the festivities on Sunday.

Look for the BOKC to be aggressive in attempting to get the rights to the Sweet 16 for girls.
