I thought a missed opportunity for NewCath was when Bo fouled out. I think there were 2-3 minutes left. CovCath played without one of their key interior defenders. They played through that adversity and the other players stepped up. To me that was a big difference in the final minutes.

Schuh fouled out at the 1:34 mark in the 4th.

1:30 left when Bo fouled out. NCC was down 6. Moeves hit a 3 next possession.

My bad. I guess the game was faster paced than I realized. I still thought it was huge that CovCath players stepped in without missing a beat.

CovCath brought their "A game", and the Breds didn't, plan and simple. I'm one disappointed NewCath fan, however I have to give it up to CovCath for playing a solid game with more intensity IMO. Good luck tomorrow night, should be another dandy.

Your bench doesn't need to score, just maintain. Colonels do a great job in this area.

I am new to posting on this site, what happened to the earlier post that were made on this thread??

It was a different thread and it is no longer with us. A new one was started with the warning from the moderator or this one will suffer the same fate.

How many minutes did McDonald play today?

Yes they do. I hadn't seen them play much this year. It was impressive how they didn't rattle and stuck to their game plan. It was a great game to watch.

NCC will probably start out #1 again next season.

4 really good players return plus , I assume, some other talent.

As I have said a few times Pangalllo was coming forward.

We clearly saw that play differently then. Would love to see the replay.

As would I.

McDonald played the entire game. His shots didn't fall but played a good floor game.

In addition to McDonald, NewCath retuns Pangallo, Grant Moeves and Ben Weyer. They also have Seth Freppon (McDonald's cousin) who can contribute on the defensive end, and little Moeves will surprise some (Luke). He has a lot to offer.

Thanks to the great seniors. Jake Schulte, Mac Franzen, Josh Verkamp, Tyler Rawe, and Tanner Moeves. What a great group of boys. Played hard and best of all, care about each other.

Feel bad for them right now, but no need to hang their heads, this was a special group and the Thoroughbred Nation is very proud of you. Good luck in the future. :ylsuper:

I could care less who won the game.

I just want to make sure you saw that I apologized to you for emphatically stating that you were wrong. :)

I found the same site...it's an explanation of the most misunderstood rules in basketball. So, Sweet16, I am wrong regarding the rule book. My apologies.

The actual rule to which you refer does say that the defender has to keep himself and his arms straight up or he risks conceding his "rule of verticality" right. It's up the official to figure that out I guess. I'll stand by my point, however, that the way I explained my point previously is the way the game has been taught for many moons ... and I've been around a lot of basketball and never seen it called on offensive player. But again, technically, your are correct and I was wrong. Good call!

Got it, thanks

Had this conversation with someone else earlier in the tournament.

The usual suspects (Newcath, Holmes, Covcath, Dixie) likely start out 1-4 again next year as well.

Newcath, once again, will have the best starting 5 with Pangallo, G Moeves, Weyer, and McDonald at the 1 thru 4.
