NCC will probably start out #1 again next season.

4 really good players return plus , I assume, some other talent.

I was thinking the same thing. The talent well continues to flow at NCC.

Congrats to Cov Cath on the win.

Glad to see Bo Schuh have a great game.

Congrats on a fantastic season, NCC!

Caught a mistake in my previous post, I copied Covcath's numbers from 3. Here is the corrected version.

NewCath

FG 10/33 30.3 %

3pt. 6/14 42.8%

FT's 5/16 31.3%

Turnovers 9

Had this conversation with someone else earlier in the tournament.

The usual suspects (Newcath, Holmes, Covcath, Dixie) likely start out 1-4 again next year as well.

Newcath, once again, will have the best starting 5 with Pangallo, G Moeves, Weyer, and McDonald at the 1 thru 4.

The Anderson twins (jr's.), Luke Moeves (so.), Seth Freppon (sr.), John Ludwig (jr.), Job Freppon (so.), and Trey Wurtz (so.)

Mr Kaelin overheard the NCC coaches asking a player why he missed his free throws he answered, "That cheer from CovCath gets in your head"

How many Crazies do we estimate were there today? 300?

It was the most I have ever seen!!!!

You can have the best starting 5 in the region (or state) a new coach with great experience and ability to bring talent along and still not get to the Sweet 16. That is what makes basketball such a wonderful and frustrating sport at the same time. I love basketball, especially at this time of the year.

One off game now and you are done, obviously. Especially in a tough region and this far along in the tourney. Get hot at right time and you just never know. Harsh, but exciting.

I just saw no way NCC would not win the region.

They get a nice boost w this Holy Trinity group. It has been some time since HT brought a bball class to NewCath. More of a football, baseball school.

That 22 game winning streak worried me. A team is going to eventually have an off night, but combine that w CovCath and their physical D and it goes from "off" to nightmarish.

We are not in agreement. Call was correct.

Pangallo was slightly spinning and not square when Ruthsatz jumped into him. If Pangallo had jumped straight up and stayed square to him with hands up, then no call.

I don't think they will be as good. Weyer prefers to play the 3 instead of the 4 and losing Moeves really hurts them. Having 3 bigs is quite a bit different than having 2 bigs. Don't get me wrong, they will still be good, but not as good.

Not sure NCC had an "off" night as much as the CovCath defense made them work hard for everything.

CovCath made it difficult for NCC to get good looks the entire game.

I think fatigue played a part in NCC missed free throws late in the game.

Just now getting an opportunity to post in this thread. First, congratulations to New Cath on a great season. This was my first time getting to see them play. You could tell they didn’t play their best game of the year, but they have some big kids and played hard. Congrats to them on a great season. It’s my understanding that a lot of these kids will be back next year. You never forget that feeling in the locker room after a season-ending loss. Use it as motivation this offseason.

The difference in this game was simple: free throw shooting. NCC struggled from the line, while Cov Cath was lights out down the stretch.

NCC missed some easy shots early on, partly due to CCH’s defense, partly due to nerves, partly due to who knows what. CCH rebounded well and won most of the 50/50 balls.

I thought Ruthsatz really struggled last night. He took a few quick shots which didn’t help. He almost cost the Colonels down the stretch: putting up an ill-advised, contested shot with about 1 minute to go when the Colonels were running the clock out, then committing an unforced turnover on the next possession. Then, he got a few key rebounds & nailed all of his FT’s. Not his best game, but he took care of business.

Mark Schult didn't score 30 points but he knocked down a couple big 3’s and battled hard underneath. Bo Schuh played exceptionally well and was the most athletic player on the floor. His interior defense was invaluable. Both CCH big guys played very well.

Pangallo from NCC is tough, but appeared flustered to me. His 3rd foul at the start of the 3rd quarter was big. I know there has been a lot of discussion about that play, but I thought it was the right call. I understand how/why people are upset with the call, but it’s the right call…and why you don’t leave your feet when you’re guarding a jump shooter.

The atmosphere at BOKC was great. Traditionally, I’m the type of guy that prefers to see the games at the HS venues, but yesterday afternoon’s atmosphere was awesome. It wasn’t nearly as good for the Dixie / Holmes game, and appeared almost vacant for the girls’ championship.

Serious question for you NCC historians: how many Pangallo’s have played varsity hoops from NCC?
