When you start as early as you do here in Kentucky, high level baseball players are going to miss some football practice.

Exactly. So they miss a couple touch football games-i.e. 7 v7s, and a July or two practice in shorts. I can assure you what they are experiencing in the games and competition is doing more for them than running ghost drills. No clue if theyve been to practice, but they havent been out of town all summer. My guess is theyve been to quite a few. Knowing those three the way I do, with their drive and work ethic they will come in ready to go when the time comes.

Agreed, sir. All they're missing is conditioning. They can catch up.

I was told that Coach Rash set up the conditioning schedule to reduce baseball schedule conflicts. The first practice on Monday is in the evening and the last practice of the week on Thursday is early in the day. That way if they had to go out of town over the weekend it gave them as much time as possible to make the workouts. If they are out of town all week, then they obviously can't make the workouts.

Coddling the schedule for certain players, wonder how that sits with some.

When you coach at a small school, you work with the students to help them pursue their interests. Talent has to be shared at small schools. Coach Rash often works with students who have schedule conflicts to help them out. The schedule doesn't cause any hardship on the team and actually helps everyone on the team by allowing key players to participate more with the team.

Teenage boys getting long weekends off over the summer. What do you think? My guess is they're pretty darn happy about it.

This is very common in small 1A schools. There is no way you cant be work around kids or with kids to make sure they are able to enjoy of interests.

Probably sits fine with most other than yourself. You are one cynical dude.

It is semi-similar to b-ball coaches having to wait until football season is over to get their whole team practicing together. Actually thinking about it that is worse because real b-ball games start while football is still playing championships. They will still get in plenty of football work before real games start.

To be more accurate he takes shots at BW whenever he gets the chance.

He doesn't limit himself to taking shots at Beechwood. I think he is just hates success. :D

While I agree with it, I know for a fact that some parents/families are frustrated with how much the schedule changed. Rash always seemed to do a great job of setting a schedule/calendar early on and sticking to it. So parents could count on it. This year there have been a number of off-the-cuff changes. The changes end up affecting some families negatively because they had previously scheduled around it.

You are correct about small school. A coach has to do what is best for the team as a whole. If that means rescheduling to make it doable for more players, then so be it.

This year football practice schedule is same last year. Monday night practice. Tuesday / Thursday morning practice. Friday off
