I would think it has more to do with how many good players the schools have. If I can pick from 700 boys vs 250 boys I have a better chance of finding 22 really good players. If a player is not one of those 22 out of 700, he has a better chance at being one of the 22 out of 250. At least I think that's what the post meant. Obviously there is very, very good talent at the smaller schools, just not as much quantity.

Still a flawed logic. While growing up my dad had two ponds on our property, one large one and one small one. He used the big one for irrigation and did not stock it with fish, there were no fish in it at all, you could fish in that pond for days and you would never catch a fish because it had zero fish in it. Now, the small pond he stocked with fish, a lot of fish. You would barely get your line in the water before you would get a bite. You could catch fish in that pond all day long, because there were fish in it.

 

The size of the school does not, and has not ever mattered. It's always been about how many fish are in the pond.

Unfortunately for Mayfield, Beechwood did them in for that Hazard title game. The Beechwood game led to Jackson playing hurt versus Hazard and he just wasn't able to be Jonathon Jackson. One quarter into that Hazard game I said something is wrong with Jackson. It was pretty obvious he wasn't himself. To the Mayfield supporters credit, none of them have used that as an excuse, but I will say it.

I just try and forget that day altogether, it was a nightmare on a otherwise unexpectedly successful season. Bw likely sees it similar or worse with the QB injury and no call at the end of our game
