Beechwood 2014

ahh, the Beechwood PR machine discounting the value of kids again. Keep telling yourself they don't matter because they aren't "starters" I guess that makes the coaching staff feel better.

Why would you even respond this way? He was responding to a post that said 3-4 starters left the team. He was aware of one and I think he would know. It has nothing to with PR. Hate somewhere else.

I will respond however and wherever I want within the rules.

I did not say you could not respond......I was looking for a reason why you responded the way you did. You obviously have some kind of issue with non-starters at BW not being recognized. I was asking why you thought that way. So, I guess I will never know other than you responded that way because you basically felt like it.

Wow, how in the world did you get that from his post?

I seen one of the Bright twins at UDF he only looked to be about 6'3 200 pounds. Hope they both have a great season.

They are both tall and lean, saw them both at the gtown camp today, both measured at 6'4"+, one weighed 229, the other was 208. I know their dad and they are doing all they can to pack a few more pounds on, guess its a metabolic thing.

You are correct. There are other issues in there for sure. It has nothing to do with starters/non starters. For now I'll just leave it alone and state that's it's just all My OPINION.

Some kids choose not to come back for a variety of reasons, some for academics, some because they lost the desire, and some see the handwriting on the wall. Hate to lose any kids, starters or non starters, but I think it would be irresponsible at best to imply the coaches don't care.

Fair enough.

........or one is sneaking down to the fridge in the middle of the night while the other one sleeps.

There aren't any players anywhere enjoying themselves right now if they are putting in the work necessary to win a championship. I hope any players getting wore down tough it out. If you work hard, you will get your chance. Don't assume anything about playing time or anything else. I remember last year one receiver who wasn't getting playing time and didn't get one pass thrown his way during pre-season. He kept working and sure enough he ended up getting a good amount of playing time and made some big plays for the team. This team has a chance to be special. Everyone hang tough, support each other and keep fighting every day. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Great post, I think I know the young man you are referring to, hard work and perseverance seem to pay off. If it is the young man I am thinking of, he worked his butt off and kept his chin up....and good things happened for him.

There is a lot of potential with this team. The boys have to keep their eye on the prize. It has been too long since a Beechwood football player got a ring.

Great post. I do agree with just about everything. The bar has been raised every year for what it takes. It is a ton of work to prepare to be a champion. Sometimes I think it has gotten way out of hand and the balance just isn't there.

Unfortunately, what you said about having fun is completely true. BUT should it be? Weren't these things started in order to be fun? Have we just lost focus?

So I ask this... Is it possible to achieve a fun/work balance and still win? Lord knows I have watched Beechwood work extremely hard for 3 years and still come up short.

If we go back 20+ years and remember when we all played, was summer conditioning fun? Was it any different then than now? I don't think conditioning and football in the summer has ever been fun.

I was not saying they didn't care. As two of the possible exits would be a big loss, it would be ignorant to assume they don't care.

I'm not articulate and it comes across wrong, but in my opinion they don't seem to understand what these exits are indicative of. Starter/non-starter does not matter. IMO, it shows that they are either not enjoying it or they do not have faith or both.
