That's why I didn't mention him. Kentucky is as good as it gets in the college game, but they really can't compete with the majority of NBA jobs.

You are both right about the NBA paying more and some places being better jobs, but look at some of the top coaches in the NCAA that have repeatedly turned down higher paying NBA jobs...Wasn't K offered crazy money to coach the Lakers (maybe top job in the NBA) but turned it down. Donovan took and then turned down much higher paying NBA job. NBA jobs are at the top of the profession but not as much higher as many would believe. FWIW the Celtics right now are not a Top NBA job, KG and PP ain't walking thru that door.

In the NBA you're dealing with guys getting paid, who don't necessarily want to or care to listen to what you've got to say. In the college game it's much more suited to teaching and learning. Also, the NBA doesn't care about your "resume". K, Billy D, Izzo, Self, Roy, Cal, etc. know they're at their respective schools pretty much until they decide otherwise. In the NBA if they don't win, and do so quickly, they're out of a job. NBA jobs are better than college jobs, especially at the elite franchises such as the Celtics.

Kinda crazy to think how different the landscape in both the NBA and college games would be today had the ping pong balls bounced the way everyone thought they would that year, and Tim Duncan put on the Celtic green.
