February 26, 201412 yr Author Did you want Cal when Gillispie was hired? Honest question. No I did not, I had heard all of the stories and really didn't know a lot about him. I wasn't for Cal when BCG was hired, after the BCG was fired and I looked more at Cal I didn't have as much of a problem with him.
February 26, 201412 yr Author Billy Donovan isn't coming to Kentucky. Has zero interest in it. Doubt Miller would leave Arizona either. Pearl would definitely take it IMO, and I wouldn't touch Matta with a 100 foot pole. I think Kentucky would contact (no particular order): Shaka Smart Sean Miller Bruce Pearl Travis Ford (would seriously consider rooting for a different program if he were coach) Tom Izzo Steve Alford Thad Matta John Beilien Only thing good about Alford coming to UK would be seeing a Giant Blue and White UK Basketball Shoe in front of the Motel that he owns in his hometown when visiting there. It'd be great seeing a Big UK Logo on 15 foot long tennis shoe about a mile from the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Other than that I don't want Alford at UK, unless he does better at UCLA then he has every where else.
February 26, 201412 yr My like is mainly for your first sentence. I'd love to have your top 2 whenever Calipari moves on. But I will be sad that day. I don't see Cal at UK much longer.
February 26, 201412 yr What about little Ricky? He should be a real hot commodity by then. :sssh::clap::popcorn:

I don't know about Sean Miller. He's doing pretty well in Arizona, but I'd make him tell me no too. Agree that Pearl would take the job in a heartbeat & I think he'd do well, which is why UT should go after him. No way will UK go after Travis Ford. If they do, I wouldn't root for another program because the program is bigger than the coach, but Travis Ford is my least favorite UK player ever. He's a certified turd head.
February 26, 201412 yr  Think about it. We still their coach in waiting, a Pitino is coach again at UK, and all the Pitino haters would do another 180.:lol2::lol2:

Ricky Jr. doesn't have a lot of support among UK fans. But I'd take him over Travis Ford.

I would hate having Ford as a coach. The way he handled the Smart issue is all I needed to see. I would jump ship to UofL if Ford were ever named coach at UK. Edited February 26, 201412 yr by LRCW

February 26, 201412 yr ummm NO! :thumb: Ummmmm I agree. We hired one that had a reputation of a great recruiter, good in game coach once - they called him Billy Clyde, I think that we all remember how that turned out . There is a very important qualification for the U.K. Job and all but Bill Gillispe had it, Pearl can't even define it - Class.

You mean like the class Adolph Rupp had? Or was it the class that Eddie Sutton had? Oh, I guess you must be talking about the classy guy down the road now, Rick Pitino...There are a lot of things that go into being the coach at Kentucky, class hasn't (historically) been one of them though.

February 26, 201412 yr So at a minimum 4 of the 7 coaches Kentucky has had have shown to have little to no class, and yet class is somehow a requirement for the job? Since when? Winning, personality, charisma, winning, recruiting, and winning. Those are the criteria it takes to become the Kentucky coach. Hell they had one of the classiest guys in the game in Tubby, and pretty much ran him out of town.
February 26, 201412 yr Totally with you on your first two sentences. On your third sentence,. The little kid doth protest too much...
