NCC can't be too tickled with it, may change the outcome of the tourney possibly. If nothing else it might be a better game

Definitely. It was an OT game the first time these two played. NCC didn't handle the pressure very well in the 2nd half.

Unless I've missed it I never heard why they were definitively ruled ineligible in the first place.

Seemed very subjective and assumptive to me.

They are on the line-up sheet I was just handed.

Wow! That's what I call "first-hand" knowledge!

Change of address should be enough. A 7 footer moves from North Carolina and enrolls at Scott County and nothing is said?

Remember the Price kid from Cleveland who moved to Louisville...he openly stated he shopped around for the best basketball move he could make...checking out several Jefferson County schools....and so it goes....

NCC has also benefited from transfers this year so I guess the transfer playing field is even.

If nothing else this brings attention to the KHSAA regarding recruiting. I have long said that either all transfers should have to sit one year or give every athlete one transfer with no consequences, then make them sit.

You're kidding yourself if you think changing the rule to one free transfer will change anything. There will still be situations where someone transfers twice and then you will see an injunction if the KHSAA tries to stop them. Same for if they try to make them all sit out a season.

At this point, just open the gates. That's essentially what it is now anyway. It just wastes time and denies the kids temporarily what they're going to get anyway.

Students/Minors are always going to get the benefit of the doubt when a judge makes a ruling on these topics. It is just like in the judicial system when a court finds that a woman who spills their coffee can get a million dollars from McDonalds because it is too hot. Who are the judges going to side with an organization/ governing body and deprive the opportunity of a 16 or 17 year old kid or the student athlete? They are going to side with the kid, end of discussion. While I hate it, because it changes what high school sports are all about, they might as well just open the flood gates. The KHSAA can't stop it. That is obvious with these rulings.

First, I'm glad that these kids are getting to play. No reason a kid that is in good academic standing shouldn't be able to join his classmates on the hardwood, field, pitch, court, etc...

Second, I'm also glad that the judge said the "whole family must move" stipulation needs to be reevaluated.

The "whole family must move" stipulation really is not reasonable in this day. It puts the KHSAA in a no win situation if a family has the resources and desire to fight ruling.

Glad the kids get to play. The transfer rule needs to go completely away. It doesn't work and is a waste of everyone's time.

Know that this is somewhat off topic, but you should do some research on the injuries actually suffered by that poor woman and you would change your mind about that suit. They were actually very severe and there's no way that it should have happened. She had to have a number of skin grafts from the third degree burns from 200 degree liquid and offered to settle for much less, but McDonalds insisted on going to court. The case is Liebeck vs. McDonalds.

We then become the wild, wild, west (as we presently are), with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

The Board of Education rules the KHSAA, they need to step in and get involved. Let the kids go wherever they want - but strictly enforce the one year sit out rule. This would discourage kids flocking to the latest/greatest basketball academy situation, or better their athletic situation by making a jump from school to school. While it would also hurt a kid making a transfer for legitimate causes, it would at least be spelled out, and everyone would know exactly how it was going to play out. They would only have those who have taken advantage of the present situation to blame for their demise.

I'm sure we can all cite real-world situations that are similar. I can no longer fish in the shadow of Beckjord Power Plant (which I did for 40 years) because terrorists blew up the World Trade Center.

In Ohio, where I coached for 2 years, an athlete must sit one year mandatory no matter the reason if they transfer! This is how it should be in Kentucky. Look at the top teams in the state and show me a team that doesn't have at least 2 transfers! There is a really, really good team in the 10th Region that starts 4 transfers!
