Who is new coach for Garrard now?

Featured Replies

and those names are...?

I heard last night Bill Letton had inquired about the job. Not sure how accurate this rumor is but don't really see this happening.

I've heard his name floating around, but I personally don't know much about him. Anybody got any background info on him for a rookie like me?

He coached at Lex Cath I think last year? When it's all said and done don't think he will be coaching at Garrard County.

There were several alumni that wanted Perry the last time Garrard was looking for a coach. I know there was contact between the two sides then, although I'm not sure how serious it was. I would expect contact with Perry again this time, although I'm not sure if anything will come from it.

Perry expected to become the next coach at Danville (last time around). I think his views are a little different now.

Re-alignment could play a big role in this hire, unfortunately. 3A is probably gonna be stacked soon.

My picks would probably be 1. Jerry Perry 2. John Hodge 3. Jeff Hester. Problem is, I don't think 2 of the 3 would take it under the best of circumstances... And this ain't the best of circumstances.

Garrard could always bump up a class

You are exactly right on that statement but keep in mind there were other reasons to why he didn't take the job last time

Gotcha, but I think the idea of being head coach at Danville was the biggest hold up. Its my understanding that he did not want to go their and then leave after a couple years into it.Funny I think he would probably have gotten the Danville job if he had moved.

I'm hoping Perry stays at Boyle but if he leaves for Garrard I would understand completely.

I may be completely off base but didn't Danville promised Perry the job once he was considering the Garrard job???

Perry would be an absolute dynamite hire... Hard to see Bill Letton there, IMO.

NO doubt Perry would be a homerun...but if they are looking for a long term hire, Im just not sure he would be the guy. By no stretch of the imagination am I implying that he would be a bad hire...but there are some younger coaches who could certainly put 15-20 years into this job and make it a yearly regional/semi contender. Just saying.

I know a lot of alumni that want a huge hire, or their done. I've heard it from far too many of them. We will see if the administration takes notice from those who put lots of money into that program for the kids or not. Hopefully the administration will listen to at least what they have to say.

Realistically, who would be considered a "Home Run" hire for Garrard? Is it a short list?

I was wondering the same.

In the history of the school, I dont think any coach has stayed more than 7 or 8 years. (I could be wrong)
